Second and third trimester tiredness

I'm 28 weeks and I feel so tired! It's not quite like the feeling of being wiped out I had in the first trimester but at the moment I feel exhausted. I have the afternoon off and I'm in bed watching tv but I feel like I could go to sleep, though I probably can't actually get to sleep when I try.

A 20 min walk or being on my feet to do housework will leave my tired, eating a meal (possible particularly if carb heavy) leaves me exhausted and today I was walking for about an hour.

People talk about first trimester tiredness but not so much about being tired at 20+ weeks.

I am 22wks and the tiredness hasn't eased yet! I even mentioned it to my GP today and they are repeating my bloods to check levels but it may just be pregnancy! I can have a 3 hour nap and still sleep 10-12 hours at night!

Have you mentioned it to your GP or midwife?

ElderMillennial · 16/04/2021 11:26

Not really but I had bloods taken this week and they check iron levels. I also did ask about vit d as I was previously low and I think that can affect energy levels so she suggested checking that with GP.

It might just be keeping busy with work and sometimes not sleeping well plus pregnancy hormones etc...

Likewise! 30 weeks here and the exhaustion never stopped. It's an effort just to waddle up and down the stairs for another chocolate biscuit

My iron levels seem OK, a little low but not enough to warrant supplements. I've put it down to being huge and uncomfortable!

25 weeks and totally understand the feeling. Still waiting for the second trimester energy boost people are always going on about!

If can only really one 'active' thing (doing supermarket shop, walking the dog etc) and it wipes me out for the day.

ElderMillennial · 16/04/2021 12:27

Yes I'm the same Bunny I do a shop or cook or whatever and then need a rest. I'm 28 weeks and still waiting Grin

I take pregnacare, thinking that should have basic levels of iron etc, but not sure if that helps or not

Ahh same here.

I'm 23 weeks and exhausted. But it's because I can't sleep for some reason :/ last night I woke up at 1am and couldn't get back to sleep until 6. Then only had an hour until my alarm went off...

LunaDreams · 16/04/2021 13:38

I'm 16 weeks and still feel as tired as I did in the 1st trimester. I've had all my bloods checked and everything is within normal range. I do have a very full on and physically demanding job so that's likely a large part of it. Whoever said the 2nd trimester is a breeze was having a laugh though!

Skymum82 · 16/04/2021 13:42

Ha ha. With all my other 3 I was fine with tiredness and didn't get tired.
Now 35 pregnant with baby 4, exhausted at 6 weeks, too 17 weeks and currently 17weeks 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Yes I think the difficulty sleeping doesn't help.
