Anaemia?

I'm only 16 weeks and had a blood test which shows I'm anaemic already. Lots of the numbers had gone down significantly since I was 6 weeks.
Is this common?

Yeah it’s really common in pregnancy, the baby is stealing everything from you. Did they prescribe iron tablets? I’m always anaemic in pregnancy and have to take them, just so you’re aware they make your stools black and can constipate you. I hated them. Also had to have iron infusions at the end as I was still anaemic despite the iron x

Yep! And one lot of iron tablets didn't work! So I'm on another kind now. Hoping these work...

I take lactulose along side so my stools stay soft!

Yes quite common. I felt better after I'd been on iron tablets for a week. I'm not getting any bad side effects but I am also on a heartburn medicine that was previously giving me diarrhoea so maybe that's why the iron isn't making me constipated!

Thanks everyone. I'll stop panicking. I might try the spatone drinks as they're meant to be more gentle. I've had quite bad nausea this pregnancy.. I wonder if that's been contributing?
