I've read so much about being constipated during pregnancy I'm 16weeks and luckily I am yet to experience this, instead I've been going every morning - well most mornings I'd say 4/5 times a week. Now I'm thinking is this normal in pregnancy? Before being pregnant I would say this is how often I went.

I'm 16weeks, no symptoms anymore and not really a bump so I'm overthinking everything. How do you know everything is fine in there?

I had digestive disruption in the 1st trimester but back to my normal regularity now as I have more regular eating patterns. I'm a daily person.

You can't really know how things are in there with baby but there are usually signs if there are any problems. You'll be feeling movement soon and that will help ease the worry.

I suffer with chronic ibs maintained by my diet so the bowel changes were a worrying thing for me,i didnt notice any bowel changes till further on i had very mild constipation around week 20 that did cause some discomfort so much so that it affected my 20 week scan, im now 28 weeks and notice that i go pretty much every morning and then easily again a few hours later, the peeing however is near enough every hour lol

I only started noticing I was less regular and had to make more of an effort with high fibre foods at at around 30 weeks+

16 weeks is a bit of an in between time I guess and baby wouldn’t be big enough for your inside to have moved around too much just yet. But soon you’ll have more of a bump and will start being able to feel baby move. It’s also lovely to see baby again at the 20 week scan!

Please don't tell me you are wishing to be constipated OP! Grin

Everyone experiences symptoms differently - I have been relying on lactulose to stay regular since about 20 weeks (and the results are horrendous if a dose is missed!). But friends of mine are guzzling Gaviscon for heartburn which I haven't had at all.

It's so hard in that in between stage with no bump or symptoms, it doesn't really feel real. Try not to worry.

I was an everyday kind of girl pre pregnancy. I’d say from around 20 weeks I’ve had periods of not going for a good few days at a time which is very unusual for me and not fun! 🙈

Cafeaulait27 · 14/04/2021 12:55

I was once a day pre pregnancy, then first trimester it was a bit messed up - sometimes nothing for 4 days and sometimes loads of times a day! But now I’m 14 weeks it seems to be going back to normal xx

Thank you all for your responses! I will be sure to update when/if constipation arrives!haha

I’m only 4 weeks and dreading constipation, I struggle already 😫

Peaplant20 · 14/04/2021 18:48

@EXA1912 I was the same. I’ve had to make a very conscious effort to drink loads more and eat lots of fruit and veg. I’ve had one instance of needing lactulose from the doctor but apart from that it’s ok so far (and I’m 27+5) so this is better than I thought it would go, touch wood! X

EXA1912 · 14/04/2021 19:14

@Peaplant20 I’m going to really have to try and do the same, I suffer with really bad health anxiety but the anxiety actually makes my symptoms worse then I find it hard to eat, it’s a viscous circle 🤦🏼‍♀️ X

Peaplant20 · 14/04/2021 19:18

@EXA1912 wow I actually also have terrible health anxiety! It doesn’t make it hard to eat but it massively affects my life every day :( X

EXA1912 · 14/04/2021 19:51

@Peaplant20 mine does aswell, GP is at her wits end with me, I’m off work atm since finding out I’m pregnant cz I’m absolutely freaking out and thinking of everything that could go wrong, I’m having cbt, really trying help myself by trying not to worry but it’s so hard 😫 xx

I'm feeling anxious more than ever now I'm pregnant. So glad I've got a midwife appointment on Friday - I've got a list of my worries/concerns.

I have always wanted to be pregnant and have a baby I just never thought I'd be this anxious and worrying over the slightest thing and worrying over what can go wrong! I really want to start enjoying this pregnancy and worry less, it's so hard!

Yes I ask so many questions at each appointment! X

Scarftown · 14/04/2021 20:10

1st trimester I noticed I wasn’t as regular but nothing that caused me any pain or difficulty. Then 2nd was all fine and back to normal. I am now 30 weeks and I would say contipation has hit. Most unusual for me and I am not a fan lol.
