Best time for early scan?

Hi

I had a miscarriage last year at 10 weeks it didn't grow past about 6 weeks they said.

I am pregnant again only about 4 weeks and wanted to get a private early scan to help reassure as 12 weeks is a long wait.

I was wondering when is the earliest I could book that I would see a heartbeat? I don't want to go back and forth not seeing anything as it will make me worse. But I have seen conflicting reports some people see a heartbeat at 5 weeks and others not until 7 weeks.

(I know its not a guarantee that everything will be fine)
Thanks

I would say no less than 9 weeks. You will see the heartbeat and also see some resemblance of a baby shape in the blob that it is at 9 weeks, and you'll have less than a month until your 12 week scan that way.

I'm sorry for your loss and congratulations on your bfp.

I've had three miscarriages - all happened/baby stopped growing around 5-6 weeks. For my healthy pregnancy with DD, I saw a heartbeat at 7wks. I'm 13wks now, and saw a heartbeat at 6+1. It was hugely reassuring, but I also had scans at 8 and 10 weeks, so it wasn't such a long wait until the 12wk one.

I would say that 8wks is probably a good time. If you choose to have one at around 6wks and it's too early to detect a heartbeat, can you afford to have another one/ two weeks later?

I went at 9 weeks and they said as everything was looking good then there was better chance it would go to 12 weeks. At the time it made me feel better, but I realise in many ways it's pointless as could've all gone downhill a week later. But yes the chances were better.

8 weeks is a good milestone, so I've read. Both of mine (and my sister's) were at 8 weeks, and all went well, and the scans were just about baby shaped! Also breaks up the wait for the 12 week one nicely.

I've known someone lose a baby after a 7 week scan, so I wouldn't do earlier than 8 weeks personally.

Congrats on the baby!

My last pregnancy I had a scan at 8+3 by lmp and saw baby measuring 7+4 with hb, unfortunately lost it a week later. Had many losses but that was the only one I'd had an early scan with. This time I held out for my dating scan and glad I did, now 21+6wk.

8 weeks - I think you have 90% chance of making 12 weeks (or something in that region) if there is a heartbeat at 8 weeks.

I recently had one at 8+6 but measured 8+1 and we seen the heart beat , which was very reassuring

Sorry to hear of your mc.
I'd say 9 weeks, having had a mmc after seeing a heartbeat. Your scan will most likely be around 13 weeks, so it's right in the middle.
