Nervous about going back to work

Hi,

I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant and work in hospitality, so have been off work since finding out I was pregnant. I’m so worried about how tired I’ll be working again now we’re open from this week. Late nights and long hours. I already have back pain with this pregnancy so I can’t imagine working 12 hours on my feet is going to help. Anyone work or worked in a busy restaurant when pregnant? Did you cope ok? I might be over thinking it, but can’t help having back to work anxiety about it.

Not hospitality but I work on a very busy ward and currently 23 weeks. 13.5 hour shifts stood up constantly, helping people out of bed, washing, to the bathroom (all the back breaking stuff). So far it has been ok for me. If I feel I’m struggling I just let someone know and take 5 minutes if I can. Maybe request a meeting to do a risk assessment with your manager to see what reasonable adjustments can be put into place to keep you safe and well. If they don’t look after you and you start suffering it will be their loss as you will have no choice but to go off sick. So In their best interests to keep you as comfortable as possible x

Hi OP, I’m a waitress and went back to work today after being furloughed for a few months. I’m 28 weeks and to be honest, I felt great! My back was a bit achy by the time I got home but I so enjoyed being around people again, and apart from not bending down as easy as I used to, I didn’t really feel any different than when I did the job pre-pregnancy. Hoping I’ve got a good while left of feeling like this before it all starts to become a struggle!
