Feeling miserable 10 weeks :(

Hi Mumsnet,

I don’t know why I’m posting other then to whinge to those who have been through this and have a bit of a pity party so please indulge me.

I’m 10 weeks this week, and whilst this was a bit of a surprise Hubby and I are very happy about it and had a private scan at 8 weeks which made it all very real.

Even since I found out (about 4-5weeks) I’ve had awful nausea, which is getting worse, all weekend I’ve had this horrendous headache that paracetamol won’t touch, I am exhausted, I feel like I am going to throw up 24/7 and generally I am just so miserable as I’m not sleeping at all, Please tell me it gets better?? :( I’ve spent all day in bed and I feel so helpless.

Any remedies that might help the nausea? Sleeplessness? I know I just have to suck it up for now and it’ll be worth it but my god I just want to curl up and cry. Xx

If it continues see your GP. No awards for suffering xx
I found ice lollies sometimes helped,

I'm 10 weeks too! I feel similar. To get the nausea to stay away I'm eating probably every 3/4 hours or every time i feel a wave of nausea coming. It is so annoying and has got me down too. Ice cubes also seems to help.

It gets better!

I had terrible nausea all day every day from 5 weeks until 13 weeks.

Nothing really helped, at one point I was struggling with sipping water, now I just want to eat everything in sight.

Mints slightly helped.

Thank you all for your replies! I’ll try the ice cubes and mints - I feel like I have to eat 24:7 to keep the nausea at bay but then I can’t stomach food either, such a rubbish cycle to be in. Rice crackers are easy enough to nibble on and keep down but I don’t feel any better. Eurgh I know I shouldn’t wish time away but I really hope the next few weeks fly by!

It gets better!! I'm 11+2 now and although the nausea is still there, it feels like it's gradually improving. Weeks 8,9,10 were the worst for me so far. But like pps have said, speak to the gp if you feel like you need medication Thanks

It’s absolutely OK to have a rant, and I hope you feel better soon. I am only 6 + 2 but have had nausea daily since bang on 4 weeks. Fennel tea is helping calm it.
For waking in the night, an audiobook helps me get back off as it stops my brain waking up after the inevitable trips to the loo.
For the tiredness, I can strongly recommend delegating housework stuff to the DH when needed and sitting the fuck down Grin

I feel like this and I’m only 4 weeks 😫 I’ve 3 babies already to look after 2 under 3 and I just want to curl into a ball and give up 🤦🏼‍♀️

Tilly18101 · 12/04/2021 20:35

Thank you all, sounds strange to say but at least I’m not the only one and it seems quite common And I’m hopeful it won’t be for much longer - I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve always been a bit funny about nausea and sickness my whole life, I.e really strong aversions to certain smells etc, so I’m not surprised I’m feeling so bad!

I’ll have a look at fennel tea thank you xx
