Early scan anxiety

Hello!

I've booked an early scan for Wednesday of this week, through a private company.

I booked it a couple of weeks go when I thought I'd be 6+4 (going by LMP) but it turns out I'll be 6+1. The dates are definite.

Anyway, it's my first pregnancy and although I have no real reason to worry, I am. Worried about everything from ectopic, MC, MMC, empty sacs, no heartbeat. Everything. I'm trying my hardest to focus on other things but for some reason it's proving really difficult.

I think it'd help me feel a lot better to see things on a scan, but I worried it's too early.

Did anyone else go for a scan at this stage?

Did you get what you wanted from it?

I’ve had a few. At around 6 weeks they can usually see a sac, yolk sac and heartbeat. Sometimes if it’s too early or you have your dates a bit out they can’t though, it’s hard but you might be better to wait an extra few days so you get to see what you want x

I meant to say though with most private scan places if they don’t see a heartbeat they’ll bring u back in a week for free I think x

@EXA1912 Thanks for your reply.
The dates are definite as the baby was conceived via IUI so I know the insemination day. I wish I wasn't like this. 😂😩

I had quite a few early scans. One at the EPU at 5+4 due to previous losses, we got to see a heartbeat at that scan.

I then went on to have private scans at 6+2, 7, 8+4, 9+5, 10+3, 11+6, 13+4. I guess that’s what 4 miscarriages will do to you 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

I’ve since had my nhs scan at 14 weeks, and most recently a private scan at 16+6.

This was the first pregnancy where an early scan was a positive experience though. Prior to this one, all early scans had been either ‘I’m very sorry but......’ or left me full of anxiety with seeing a sac and yolk but nothing else so having to wait a week to 2 weeks to go back for another one, only to then find out that things hadn’t worked out.

Wishing you all the luck in the world! You have every chance of seeing a heartbeat.

@Moominmiss

I'm so glad things are going better for you this time. I'm also not surprised you're going for extra scans; I'd be exactly the same!

The "I'm sorry but..." line is the biggest concern I have, along with a potential wait because they're not sure if it's just too early.

It'll be a long wait until Wednesday. 🙄

I debated going for an early scan but I decided against it because I thought it might cause too much anxiety. Personally I'm glad I waited for the dating scan at 12 weeks. If you're not bleeding, in pain and experiencing pregnancy symptoms I felt that was enough reassurance for me. Scans make me very anxious so I'd rather not have more. Good luck x

@Rosieposy89 Thanks. I wish I could be like you 😂
I'm having no concerning symptoms like bleeding, pain etc. Lots of positive symptoms like nausea, fatigue, bloating.

I also had a couple of CB digital tests left and saw the change from 2-3 weeks to 3+ weeks bang on time.

Literally no reason to worry, I know.

I'll probably go on Wednesday as planned and hope for the best.
