When should I / when did you pack your hospital bag?

3rd baby and Iv just packed mine.

I'm 36 weeks x

Around 35/36 weeks is usually fine if you have a complication free pregnancy.

BurningBenches · 11/04/2021 17:02

I only have overdue babies so I'm playing hospital bag chicken by not packing until at least 38wks this time (DC5)

I think 36wks weeks is probably sensible.

Garman · 11/04/2021 17:09

I packed at 33 weeks which was handy as I was unexpectedly admitted at my 36 week appt and dc1 was born by emcs at 36+6.

ThisMammaCat · 11/04/2021 17:17

I'm about to pack mine, I'm 36 weeks tomorrow.

KinderWild · 11/04/2021 17:27

38 weeks and I have just finished mine. Had intended to get to it earlier but got poorly. My aim was to have it done by 35 weeks....

Nia18 · 11/04/2021 19:52

I'm high risk and my last baby was born at 30 weeks, so I've had my own bag packed since 25 weeks. Im 34 weeks now and all packed for both me and the baby.

If youre low risk and no complications though youre probably good to wait until about 35 weeks or more.

If you're

I started off writing my list at about 33 weeks (I think?) - I'm now 36 weeks and have a small list of things to add if anything happens urgently, mostly for DH so he can do without in an emergency! 😂

I found I have added bits over time which might be useful that I hadn't initially thought of, like a wet bag for dirty clothes, or a handheld fan.

I've also got a bag packed with all the things that get used up, eg nappies, breast pads, maternity pads, underwear, clean vests for baby in a few sizes, so someone can pick that up and bring it to us if we run out after rather than having to get my parents rummaging through my house trying to identify my knicker drawer!

HaNNaHC92 · 11/04/2021 21:12

I'm 37+2w with my 3rd baby. I've got some things together, but I'll have it completely finished in the next day or two.

SquigglePigs · 11/04/2021 21:14

I think I was about 36 weeks when I started with the important bits although they weren't 100% packet.

Iknowtheanswer · 11/04/2021 21:15

I planned to pack my bag when a delivery of baby stuff was due to arrive at 36 weeks.

Went into labour the day before, and ended up in hospital with a baby and no nappies.

So, before 36 weeks.

PinkCookie11 · 11/04/2021 21:16

Same as above 35/36 weeks.
I was in and out of it every week checking haha

Mother2princess · 11/04/2021 21:22

Mlsweetpea · 12/04/2021 08:35

I just started to throw things in it around the 30th week but will pack it properly around the 35-36th week.

fREHYA · 12/04/2021 09:23

I need to start too. 35 weeks and have bought nothing yet.

Queenbee95 · 12/04/2021 09:49

With my first I packed my bag as I was in labour at 36+1.
Second I think I had it done by 35 weeks
I’m now 37+3 with 3rd and I finished packing it a few days ago
