28 weeks scan

I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant with baby no 3. I got a letter from the hospital this morning inviting me for a scan in August when I will be 28 weeks followed by a dr appointment. It's been 11 years since I was last pregnant so not sure if the rules have changed? I'm classed as low risk and midwife led so didn't expect to have more than two scans? Am I missing something here? :)

How old are you may I ask?

A lady who I work with had a 28 week appt due to being 38.

Otherwise unsure as usually 12 and 20 week! X

Some areas have introduced growth scans as standard, you may be one of the lucky ones to now get one.

They're not doing them as standard in my area, I'll only get them if fundal height measures ahead. I find it a bit odd as I have a history of big babies.

We're either of your previous babies born smaller or larger than average (below 10th percentile or above 90th? At my Hospital Trust you are automatically given growth scans for this reason. Worth asking at next midwife appointment (16 weeks I think) or sonographer may mention it at your dating scan if you haven't had that yet

Have you had blood tests? My midwife almost forgot to tell me that I was having extra growth scans because of low p-appa which showed up in the first blood test I had. She had to call me back to tell me otherwise I would have gotten a letter through about the growth scan and not understood why. Although like others say it could just be a policy in your area to have an extra scan.
