hello, 28 weeks pregnant...
for past week i have been having such swollen and painful wrists and hands. each night my hands and arms are so pianful, like pins and needles with tingling sensations.
i have read that this is carpal tunnel syndrome and common in pregnancy. has anyone got any tips on how to manage it and reduce the swelling and pain??
thanks. xxx

Wrist splints will help as will rest rest and more rest. Typing is B A D and will make it worse (get off here now!!). Ice packs might help too.

I suffered really badly with this when pregnant with DS1. Don't they recommend that you sleep with your arms/wrists raised slightly or something?

I had this both times.
I still have it now and it is getting progressively worse despite Ds2 being 14 months old.
I have the splints, thje anti-unflam. tablets etc etc, but the only thing that helps it is to not do much at all with your hands/forearms.
I clipped a hedge in the summer (stupid, didn't think!) and was totally incapacitated the next day and in agony all night.
I have to think what I am doing and wether or not it will cripple me later on.
When you are preg, it just hurts most of the time eh?
I didn't find anything in pregnancy helpes it, certainly not the crappy splints.
It is awful, you have my sympathy. x

splints did absolutely nothing last time around though my GP thinks I should visit the physio for a set of splints.

Have since had a chat with a chiro who recommended before bed, 10 mins on, 10 mins off, 10 mins on, ice packs on the wrists.
Have not had a chance to try this one yet!

Typing indeed does not help - but to cut ones information link completely?
