Bump at 13 weeks?

Hi everyone, had my dating scan last week, all normal and now 13 weeks.

I was just wondering if it’s possible to get a bump with your first pregnancy at 13 weeks?

I am slim and when I gain weight it does tend to go on my belly (and I have been indulging a bit lately) but it my belly seems to be sticking out a lot below the belly button!

Just wondering if it’s possible, or just weight gain/gas 😆

I'm 14 weeks and I deffo started getting a bit rounder last week especially underneath belly button! X

Cafeaulait27 · 07/04/2021 18:59

Yes @Boxsky!

I keep reading things which say for your first it’s usually around 20 weeks that you start to show!

I should say actually it’s not my first pregnancy but the first one where I’ve made it this far 🤞🍀🌈

I guess I need to check in the morning in case I’m just bloated!

I started showing at 15 weeks however felt from week 13 clothes starting to feel tight.

I think 'showing' and the beginnings of getting a bump aren't always the same. I wouldn't say I 'showed' until much much later in my first pregnancy, as in people who didn't know I was pregnant wouldn't have known until probably about 24 weeks or so really. However I could tell the difference personally from being around 12 weeks or so. If that makes sense.

Second time around at 14 weeks I swear I'm about the size I was at 20+ weeks already! Shock

I'm really short and started showing around 10 weeks. I'm now 9 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and was showing by 6 weeks. It's definitely possible. At a scan I was told my uterus leans outwards which doesn't help

Boxsky · 07/04/2021 19:13

@Cafeaulait27 I suppose it's different for different people but there's no reason for you to not start to show - at 13 weeks uterus is moving out of pelvis so! I can't wait for a bump as opposed to looking like I've had one too many Easter eggs! Bless you, I keep everything crossed for you ❤️ this is my IVF (and rainbow) baby so totally understand the mix of fear and hope xx

I am 12 weeks now and have had a bump developing for a week now. I'm aware it's not baby at this stage but it's very noticeable.

Cafeaulait27 · 07/04/2021 19:27

Yeah, I guess it’s pushing everything else forwards as the uterus grows? Xx

@MeadowHay ah yeah that’s true, I guess at this stage no one would notice apart from me and my husband. He says he can feel it sticking out when we hug!

Congratulations on your pregnancy OP! I'm 13+2 😃

Yes, absolutely! I thought I had a bit of a bump last week but I think it was just bloating because I've definitely got a bambino belly happening now. I'm loving it. I was looking chubby till now. My waist seems slimmer because it's all stretched to the front now. Beautiful ☺️

Cafeaulait27 · 07/04/2021 19:32

@krj2688 that’s interesting! At my 12 week scan I was told my uterus is tilted, they had to do an internal scan. Although she didn’t say which way it was tilted. Wonder if that might be any!

@Boxsky ah congratulations 🌈 I’m trying to relax but it’s hard! Currently waiting for my combined test results. hope everything goes well in your pregnancy xxx

I second what @MeadowHay said... I didn't have a bump until very late with my first yet second it's been there almost from the off. I did however notice a lot of bloating a lot easier if I indulged more than usual, I had real blood sugar issues with number one and felt the need to eat constantly, after a few weeks that wore off and nobody would have known I was pregnant until I was 5-6 months! Good luck! X
