Am I really pregnant.

I’m one day late on my period.
I’ve just started sertraline and I’ve got a very faint positive result. I know I’m a fully grown adult and my contraceptive implant is a year out of date so really we’ve been unprotected. What are the chances of a false positive?

Looks like you're pregnant.
False positives are rare but still take another test in a few days to confirm it.
If you're happy with the result, congratulations and speak to your GP ASAP about meds. If you're not happy, you have options available to you. Good luck either way.

The test can only react in the presence of HCG, if it’s positive you have been producing HCG and therefore pregnant. “False positives” are more likely to be chemical pregnancies where there was implantation but the embryo didn’t develop etc.

It wasn’t the answer I was hoping for really. It’s definitely not planned if you can call it that when we’ve not updated our contraceptive methods, I already have a DD this with be DHs 1st but we’d always spoke about being in a better financial position before we wanted another child.

OP try a pink dye test, they tend to be a bit more definitive I think. Maybe a digital? Hope you get the answer you want

I'd get a First Response pink dye. That will be your Gospel.
I've had false positives with blue dyes, even reputable ones like Clear Blue. You can't be sure until you go with First Response.

Where do you get first response from please?
