Hi,

I’ve been for my midwife appointment today. It was a different midwife as mine was on holiday. She measured me and because baby has dipped slightly with how she has been growing she has referred me for a growth scan on Friday. She told me not to worry but can’t help worrying so I thought I would come on here to hear other peoples stories to help reassure me.

So at 29+2 I was measuring at 30 weeks, then at 31+6 I was measuring at 33 weeks and now at 34+6 I’m measuring at 34 weeks.

What’s the reason baby has only gone up 1 week in 3 weeks? Is it something I should be concerned about or something I shouldn’t be worried at all about?

Generally the growth rate slows towards the end I think.
I got referred for a growth scan after having a different midwife one week, but it usually because each midwife measures slightly differently. That's what we got toward at the scan. All was fine.

Definitely try not to worry. It's so easy to get different measurements, especially with different people doing them. I was referred for growth scans with both mine and they were both very much average sized babies. It's a good thing to get a scan and just double check everything is fine, which it likely will be. If it's not it means they can monitor more closely and intervene if needed.

I was referred for growth scan at 32 weeks as my fundal height hadn’t grown in 4 weeks since 28 weeks. I was measuring 26cm both times so was sent for an immediate scan. She had put weight on but not much, went back for another scan 2 weeks later and she had grown by 2.5 pounds.

I wasn’t worried at all as to be fair I’d rather she was small than be told I had a big baby to be giving birth to.

I’m sure all will be well OP, wishing you well.

Fundal height is massively outdated but they have to have a rough guide to go by.

It's quite rare for there to actually be an issue once you get to a growth scan 😊

Thank you so much everyone, really appreciate your replies! Sometimes it’s nice to just get the reassurance isn’t it. I’m going to start looking forward to being able to see her again on Friday, rather than worrying!

I wouldn't worry at all especially as it was different people measuring you. I've been for one growth scan because I grew too much and one several weeks later because I didn't grow at all for two weeks and both scans showed a normal sized baby with a normal amount of fluid and good blood flow in the cord.
