Varicose veins prescriptions for tights?

In my third pregnancy and have awful varicose veins for first time. Have looked on web and see I can buy maternity support tights for horrifying price of £18 per pair. Does anyone know whether you can get a prescription from your GP for the same? Or if you do get a prescription will it be for some awful OAP version in tan colour? Thank you!

Well I don't know if they still do them, but last time I was pg (15 yrs ago!) I used to buy 70 denier support tights from Boots for something silly like a fiver - I used to get the opaque black ones. (I wore them under trousers so the colour didn't matter, but they would have looked OK with a skirt) They don't have them on their website but worth a look in the shops to see if they still have them!

No idea about prescription ones though, sorry.

Yes i think you might be able to -tho' depends on how sympathetic your GP is-but they will be NHS issue and frankly, awful!
