you can get washable or disposable breast pads from most chemists, and supermarkets.. or you can sleep with on a towel...

belgo · 10/11/2007 09:39

this is perfectly normal. I wore breast pads from about 20 weeks of pregnancy because I leaked som much colostrum (that's the early milk). You can buy breastpads in Mothercare and Boots, disposible or washable, and in other shops too.

You may not need breast pads.

Breast pads can be bought from most supermarkets, but avoid Morrisons they're shit. Boots are expensive.

I had to wear my bra and pads each night. But it does calm down once feeding is established, honest. It is a pita at first but it's not forever. You can also get a breast cup thingy that'll catch the milk for you which you can then store for emergencies.

Tell your dh that you've had worse leakages from worse places.

I've been leaking milk at night since 16 weeks - I just sleep on a towel. Not the comfiest, but better than sleeping in a bra imo

PrunersOfEight · 10/11/2007 16:02

Also tell him that breast leakage will be part and parcel of breastfeeding, if that's what you're doing, so to get used to it!! And it can be really quite dramatic (arcs of milk shooting across the room...maybe best not to tell him that at this point..)

belgo · 10/11/2007 16:03

even if you don't bf, you're body will still make milk during pregnancy and after the birth.

debinaustria · 10/11/2007 19:29

And you'd certainly better not tell him that if you bfeed, sex can also make them spurt - at critical moments!!

i was/ am a milk cow (started leaking at 24 weeks first time and about 25weeks second time, prego still). i went through about 40 to 60 disposable ones a week till ds1 was 11-12 months, though i was breast feeding. i knew some one who leaked for 3 months afer birth and was not bf.
i found wilkos to be the cheapest and best quality, pack of 40 for £2.
my dh found it sexy as he then knew (while having sex) when i was having fun.
