Hi so I am due to give birth in 11 weeks, I know it’s still a fair way away but I had a few questions about how it is working in the hospitals at the moment.
I was going to ask my midwife but forgot and now I’m not going to see her for another 3 weeks.

Is my husband only allowed to come into the hospital once I am on the delivery suit it from the get go

Would my husband have to leave the hospital shortly after the baby is born

Do I have to wear a mask in labour

Thanks for reading

From what I've seen it really depends on the hospital and as you're still 11 weeks away, it could all change.

I gave birth in September and was alone until established labour and my dh has to leave shortly after birth.

I didn't have to wear a mask in labour generally but I had an emergency c-section in which I then had to put one on.

@Chanel05 thanks you 😊 I did wonder if it was dependent on which hospital.
I know it’s a long way off and things could change but I was trying to prepare as much as possible 😃

It’s different in different trusts. Have a look on Facebook for your local hospital or maternity unit, they should have guidance on there.

I was induced 12 weeks ago and DH was allowed to remain with me during the visiting hours (9am-9pm on the antenatal ward) and was able to stay once I was in established labour the next day until I gave birth.

DS was born in the early hours and DH left two hours later - he could have stayed longer but I wouldn’t have been happy with him driving home. He was allowed to stay the next couple of days during the post-natal ward visiting times of 2pm-7pm.

I didn’t have to wear a mask when I was in my cubicle but did when moving around.

It will depend on hospital/trust, I have found the most up to date info is on my local 'maternity voices' Facebook page so if your trust has something similar you might find it on there (tends to link to the community midwives page and the health visitor page as well, but again will vary by area).
I think your next appointment (32 weeks?) is the one where you start talking about birth options anyway so might come up naturally anyway 🙂

Thank you all I will ask at my next midwife appointment
