Due date is today but i have had absolutely no sign of anything (not even a single BH) and i am booked for a sweep on Tuesday, but i am losing my mucus plug continuously since this afternoon.

So, how long did it take you to be in proper labour after the plug coming out??

(Impatient FTM!)

Watching too. 38w6d. Mine has been slowly coming out the last 24-36hrs. I'm also suddenly struggling with leaking urine (it's not waters), a lot of pubic bone pain and a little bit of back ache.

As second DC,

JellyBellySmith · 03/04/2021 18:19

... As second DC, hoping won't be too long. DC1 was induced so never experienced natural labour progression!

LadyBillyBon · 03/04/2021 18:20

I lost my mucus plug gradually from 30 weeks.
It's your bloody show you need to be looking out for more. Just the mucus plug regrows and comes away throughout your whole pregnancy.
It's when it's tinged with blood it's more a sign of labour being soon

Chanel05 · 03/04/2021 18:56

I lost my plug 8 hours into contractions. I was in established labour 7 hours after plug went.

Pandemicpregnancy · 03/04/2021 19:35

I think I started losing mine between 40-41 weeks but still had to be induced at 42 weeks.

Worriesome · 03/04/2021 22:00

@SunnySideUp2020 - with my first I lost it while I was having contractions and had little one the same day x

TravelGem · 03/04/2021 22:02

Started loosing my plug at 40+2 ( significant amount)... I'm currently 40+8 and still pregnant after two sweeps 😞

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 04:16

Oh dear... @TravelGem
I feel like it will be the same here!!!

Ok so no need for me to get excited 😑

The same day

I really think it depends (on what I don't know!). With my first, I went to the toilet in the middle of the night and lost my plug. Got back into bed and my waters broke and contractions started.
With my last baby, I lost my plug and waters broke in one go but I never went into labour. I had a c section 24 hours later but that was planned anyway.

I took two at home pregnancy test that came out positive on Wednesday March 31st and they both came out positive. I then went to the doctors office the next day on Thursday April 1st to get a confirmation I took another urine test and it came out positive. The doctor predicted that I was around 4 weeks. I had very light bleeding that then started to come on to a little bit a a flow not to much like a period though. For the past few day I have been feeling very nauseous so I was seen today on Saturday April 3rd at the ER due to the fact I couldn’t hold down fluid or solids. I told them I was pregnant and showed them my doctor confirmation they proceeded to do a blood test and they said it came back negative. They told me to test writhin 3-5 days. I have been very confused if anyone could help me out it would me a lot. What could be the reasoning for this.?

Turtleturtle81 · 04/04/2021 06:23

I started losing mine after my first sweep. Didn’t go into labour until my second sweep a week later.

finlaythecat · 04/04/2021 06:35

Lost mine at midnight on 40+3. Baby was here within 12 hours! I’d had no signs at all that labour was imminent! Good luck!

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 07:15

I haven't had any contractions so not too optimistic tbh...

Do you think it's safe to have sex after losing the mucus plug?

OP posts:
Chanel05 · 04/04/2021 07:28

Nope

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 08:33

Thanks @Chanel05 that was what it thought.

Yes it is perfectly safe. As long as your waters haven't gone.

As said in previous post, you lose your mucus plug and it regrows ect all through pregnancy.

The signs of labour is a bloody show. Not just your mucus plug. Your mucus plug tinged brown pink and red is what you're looking for.
And even then once that goes, it's safe to have sex.

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 10:40

@LadyBillyBon ok interesting...
But you think even after 40 weeks it regrows?

Probably not at 40 weeks but it's normal for it to come away until you get your bloody show

BrumBoo · 04/04/2021 11:54

1st - lost plug at 40+5. On/off (managable) contractions for days. Full labour/gave birth 40+10 (the day I was booked for an induction but managed to avoid).

2nd - lost plug at 38+5. Waters went 5 hours later, but zero contractions so had to be induced. I do the first bit very easily, but then my stubborn children won't actually budge!

SnooperTrooper12345 · 04/04/2021 12:57

Is it your mucus plug you're losing in general (the clear snotty part) or have you actually had a bloody show?

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 13:45

@SnooperTrooper12345 just the clear jelly thing! No sign of blood

I wouldn't say it's a sign of labour then unfortunately

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/04/2021 14:05

@SnooperTrooper12345 you are probably right... got excited a bit as it's a small step but don't think i am anywhere near labour.
Think i will have a better chance after my sweep on Tuesday Smile

It does usually mean you're dilating slightly though. So at least it means your body is getting ready.

I had a sweep today. Well, 3rd one but the other 2 previously weren't possible.
Finally it was possible today but only a slight one!
