Hi everyone, I have read previous threads about this but was after some advice from women who have had it and overcome it.
I have my scan Friday I got Placenta previa major overlapping by 1.1cm and I’m terrified. I’ve read all scary stories and I have really got depressed about it now, I feel like it’s tainted my joy at being pregnant! Any advice? Tips? Good stories happy endings? I keep thinking I’m going to end up in a bad way and leave my two kids I already have sorry to go on xx thanks for reading xx

Hi OP, how far along are you? If it a your 20 week scan that showed up the PP then there a very good chance that the placenta will move up out of the way of the cervix over the next 16 weeks or so - most do. If it doesn't they will deliver you a little early by c section to be safe.

Thank you so much doe replying, I had my 20 week scan Monday and it was overlapping I haven’t stopped searching on the internet. Spoke to my gp to ask for a sick note and he was concerned too I’m just a nervous wreck lol
Thanks again for replying I really do appreciate it x

Hi OP, I had major previa and all turned out fine. I got to 32 weeks still no movement on the placenta, they scanned me every 2 weeks from then on, I had to have an MRI as they worried the placenta had grown in to the previous scar tissue from CSec1, it hadn't luckily, and I had a lovely calm section at 39 weeks and a healthy baby boy. He was also breech so would probably never have avoided the section anyway. Hope all goes well for you. x

@Mamma1985 I have it at my 20 week scan it was covering cervix and my original scar from previous c section, they did a rescan yest at 27 weeks and it's now 6cm clear x

AnxiousAnnie86 · 01/04/2021 18:48

@Mamma1985 also don't worry about needing a section, I had one in first pregnancy and it was fine and having one again this time even though it's clearers my sister had a section as hers didn't move as did my best friend in both pregnancies no issues at all xxx

Mamma1985 · 01/04/2021 19:10

That’s amazing, I bet that’s such a relief xx never heard of this until Monday and it’s taken over my life 🙈 xx

Did they tell you you had to go off sick with it? I've not heard that before

I had this, all fine by rescan, so don't worry too much?

AnxiousAnnie86 · 01/04/2021 19:46

@Mamma1985 no problem! The issue with mine was possible accreta which is where it attaches to old scar tissue! I googled to death! And basically convinced myself I was going to haemorrhage or have to have a hysterectomy!!! Preveria alone poses no risk to you whatsoever as they would always just monitor and do a csection if no movement, even if you went into labour they would just do a c section when labour confirmed that's what they did for me in first pregnancy! I bet by your next scan it's moved though! Mine moved 6cm in 7 weeks!!

Mamma1985 · 01/04/2021 19:51

@justchecking1 no never told me to I haven’t been well this week so asked him for a sick note for work and was talking to him about the scan etc and he was he don’t think I should go work until I’ve seen the ob Thursday x

Another positive story, major over lap and had to go for loads for scans but finally at 37 weeks it had moved enough they were happy for a natural delivery. Water birth and very chilled no problems!

Only issue was at 37 weeks baby was so engaged they couldn’t get a good read so imagine being on all fours to try and release the head pressure on the cervix while having the scanning probe inserted.....definitely not a dignified moment 🤣😂🤣😂

AnxiousAnnie86 · 01/04/2021 20:01

@Formulation123 sorry this made me lol! 😱😱 x

MySocalledLoaf · 01/04/2021 20:08

I had vasa previa and placenta previa marginalis found around 20 w. It was fine, planned preterm section after steroids and healthy baby.

Mamma1985 · 01/04/2021 20:39

@MySocalledLoaf thank you x did you bleed at all? All I’ve read is people bleeding and my admitted I’m dreading that because I worry about my other 2 they are 15 and 12 but I still worry about leaving them lol x

Mamma1985 · 01/04/2021 20:42

@Formulation123 you did make chuckle
The thought of being on all fours while
A probe is going in lol xx I’m glad to hear of the positive stories x all you seem to see on the internet is how scary it is and the worst outcomes.

MySocalledLoaf · 02/04/2021 12:59

I bled a lot up to 18 weeks but never after diagnosis, who knows why. I felt a bit like an unexploded bomb and had a lot of nightmares about bleeding but in the end nothing dramatic ever happened.

Fabuleuse · 02/04/2021 13:40

Mine was touching cervix but not overlapping at 20 weeks. It moved out the way very slowly but by the time I was about 35 weeks it was clear enough that I'd have been ok for a natural birth. I was having a c section for other reasons though. Absolutely nothing happened at all, no bleeds and a c section with no drama at 39+6. Worried myself sick though!

Mamma1985 · 02/04/2021 16:03

@Fabuleuse I’m glad to hear everything worked out well x I feel like the worry is taking away the excitement of the pregnancy xx

Accounta · 02/04/2021 18:35

I had complete placenta previa at my 20 week scan and was told it's very unlikely to move. It did. I went on to give birth naturally Smile

Accounta · 02/04/2021 18:36

Forgot to add, I had no bleeds at all.

Mamma1985 · 03/04/2021 18:22

@Accounta I want your story to happen to me lol I scared of going wee and seeing blood or waking up and thinking ok it’s happening!
Thank you for replying happy Easter x

Mine was a partial OS, no bleeding whatsoever. If it hadn’t been for the scan I’d never have known. I was admitted at 37 weeks “just in case” and had a planned section at 38 weeks. Went on to have another child with no placenta problems. Good luck 🙂
