Movement - 27 weeks

Some days he's having a whale of a time thrashing and kicking about.

Some days he's really pretty quiet and I get worried.

It seems to be active day, quiet day, quiet day, active day.

Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? He doesn't really respond if I give him a poke or have a cold drink on the quiet days.

I've been in twice with reduced movement, both times HB was fine, but the second visit showed he was measuring small.

Some baby's don't really have "a pattern" and I think that's quite common. What's important is what is normal for your baby BUT if you are ever worried you should call the assessment centre / labour ward

Most times nothing will be wrong but it is important to get checked and the midwives understand as they have seen it al

I'm 26 weeks and my baby has more active days than others. He is generally active but sometimes he doesn't do much for a couple of hours and prodding him or having a cold drink doesn't always help but then he usually gets going in his own time later on

My baby didn't really get into a pattern until around 34 weeks. Even now at 39 weeks they don't stay in that pattern but I've learnt if they're more active during the day, they're less active at night and visa versa.

As PP said though, always get checked when you're worried.

I'm 30 weeks and I'm finding it hard to recognise a pattern too. There are quiet days and days when the timing seems different from the previous one. It would stick out if there'd been consistency but there hasn't been.

There's been consistency as in he wiggles about non stop for a day, then seems to chill the hell out a couple of days.

I still feel movement, it's just not the tummy shaking wiggles he gives off on his active days.

I think he is okay. I'm just not sure what's "normal"!
