Ladies I am thinking of buying/hiring one on the basis that it might help and even if it doesn't it might be a good distraction - any points of view? thanks.

You can buy them from ebay about £33 including delivery. You want to get a maternity one, as others come with small print ' do not use during labour ' !!!! MMmmm.

The highest watts/ pulse rates are the best, ie nice big strong ones, and four pads.

Hello MrsMC again! I swore by my TENS machine in second labour. It didn't help so much in first as I was being sick every few minutes which the TENS machine just felt in the way, one hand to hold TENS, one to hold hair!!
On my second labour though, I swear it was pure magic! I got all the way through on just the TENS, no other help, not even gas and air. I hired mine both times from BOOTS, I think it was quite reasonable, shall be getting one again for this time, fingers crossed.
