At my 8 week apt it was recorded that I had blood in my urine it was tested again (17+6) and the midwife told another college “+4 blood in urine” anyone know what this means and what would be the cause? Anxious wait til they run tests just want to know 😬 don’t have a uti as far as I know as have no symposiums of it? What else could it be?

I had the same and it was a UTI.
I had no symptoms like you though

Hey, I have had this before (not whilst pregnant). I went to GP with a suspected UTI, sample came back clear but red blood cells were found. A second sample was found to have red blood cells. I was then referred under the urgent two week wait pathway for ultrasound of kidneys and a cystoscopy. Urine sample on the day was clear and nothing untoward was found on tests. It was an incredibly anxious time but the urologist was very reassuring and said it was common and often there's no explanation. Afterwards it felt like a big fuss over nothing but they can't ignore it on the very small chance it might be serious. I suspect in my case I was dehydrated or something and it was irritating my bladder as I was having cystitis symptoms but no infection. Good luck x

UTIs are really common in pregnancy and often don't have the usual symptoms you would expect. I had four when I was pregnant with my DS. With one I developed a high temperature but the other three were symptomless for me.

Have they suggested you speak to the GP about antibiotics?

Thankyou its probably just be a uti just worried it might be something else as urine is almost brown looking...also as it was detected almost 10 weeks ago and was told there’s more blood present this time...would it still be a uti?

They picked it up 10 weeks ago and didn't do anything about it?! Can you call your GP and make an appointment asap? UTI's need to be treated if they are bad as they can lead to kidney issues otherwise.

What did the midwife suggest to you?

Shannondd3108 · 29/03/2021 12:03

The midwife just said she’s going to send off today’s urine sample and see what they say but it is wierd they didn’t check sooner as there was a higher blood count this time

If your urine is looking brown because of blood, I’d call the GP today just to get some extra advice.

Sometimes with UTIs they will put you on a general antibiotic until the results come back and then they can switch it to another one if needed.
