Bump not round

Apologies this is a very self indulgent post and there are worse problems but I've been feeling really self conscious recently basically due to the shape of my bump. I'm 19 weeks and it looks lumpy rather than round like all the other 19 week bumps in seeing. Almost like B rather than D shaped.

Please could someone reassure me that it will round out and il have a nice round bump eventually? Or will it stay this shape as it grows?

I'm 19+5, just look a bit more podgey than usual.
Bump will pop in a few more weeks and probably have a more rounded shape as you're not carrying loads of fat.

It just depends on the shape baby is lying. The nicely rounded bumps are usually created by head down, back to front babies. Those of us with transverse, breech or back to back babies get lumpy bumps!

I had a B shaped bump the whole time, no idea why it must just be the way my body is. I never had a round bump and never really looked heavily pregnant, I think it was due to the fact she spent the entire pregnancy really deep in my back instead of out front. I can’t say I cared though, maybe I just looked fat to strangers but I can’t say I thought much about it, as long as they are growing well I wouldn’t worry!

I've no idea what way the baby is lying actually. Will I find out at the 20 week scan?

They will tell you what position they are in at that scan but five minutes later it will probably be different they literally change position constantly until you’re about 30 odd weeks, I just seemed to carry more in my back. She caused havoc to my hips and pelvis and I’m sure it was just her position. Just remember everyone carry’s completely differently, I’m sure you will have a lovely bump regardless of whether to stays B shaped🙂

This whole pregnancy, mine has been that shape apart from the top part sticks out further than the bottom slightly.
😂 39 weeks now and it's still not perfectly round 😂

@SnooperTrooper12345 thank you.. I may just have to make my peace with it then Smile

Can anyone relate to this bump shape? Hard lumps either side, kicks both sides ... midwife said baby head down but I'm not convinced !! Kicks in both hips and down low. 35 weeks today

Hi Ellie,

it looks to me like diastasis recti, where your abdominal muscles have split. Pretty common but good to be aware off so you don’t worsen it and worth getting proper advice post birth to repair. Mine is similar.
