Hi,

Pregnant with our 3rd. Had two previous awful pregnancies (HG, SPD, PG related Intercranial Hypertension) followed by two very different but agonising labours (1st 27hrs, 2nd 16hrs).

We wasn’t trying but so happy we’re PG however I am incredibly anxious that I’m going to be very poorly and have a hard labour again (more worried about labour actually!).

Did hypnobirthing, pregnancy yoga, the lot with last 2 and they didn’t help (at all!!!) I’m afraid.

Surely I’m not the only one that is so anxious about the next 7/8 months being awful because of previous experiences?

I know it’s relatively short time in the grand scale but still.. 8 months and a bad labour!’ Confused

Get help from the GP straight away with HG. Spd, you know the signs and the things that can help so get the ball rolling with any referrals you may need ASAP. No experience with the last one. There's no guarantee you will suffer so much with this one and you could request a cesarean if you like. Good luck with it.

I've had spd in 3 previous pregnancies and the last was huge twins so pretty painful. I had problems and constant pain for over 2 years after too but rebuilt strength in the gym and so far it's been more manageable this time, though only a singleton this time so will never be as bad as last time. I've had some very long labors too, our 2nd was slow labor of 6 days from being 1cm dilated (urgh) but I still consider it a good birth tbh. I'm hoping for vbac with number 6, had elcs last time with breech twins.

Me Sad Pregnant with my second and had a terrible pregnancy the first time round (HG that lasted for the entire pregnancy, major pelvic pain, seizure towards the end - I think as my body couldn’t take the strain anymore) then a terrible labour, which I still find pretty traumatic to think about. Also did hypnobirthing, pregnancy yoga (only a few times due to the HG) but it didn’t help a jot at the end.

Seven weeks today and feel absolutely rotten already. Already can’t look after my DD properly, we have such a close bond and I’m devastated. Can feel this going the same way as my first pregnancy and I’m really scared. Not sure I can do this again.

It took over a year to conceive my DD (inc. two miscarriages) so thought it would take a long-time with this one. First month. We weren’t even concertedly trying - no contraception so knew it was a possibility but we weren’t thinking about when or how often we had sex. Certainly no ovulation kits or tracking like last time! Can’t believe it, think I’m in shock.

Hats off for you for doing this a third time - I’m a million percent sure we will not be a three child family (already had a scan due to concerns that the pregnancy was ectopic so know this isn’t twins!) Grin Hoping for a better third pregnancy for you Flowers

Part of me is glad I’m not on my own but feel for yous!

I was thinking of opting for a VBAC but looking at the surgery and the recovery is massively putting me off, with my 2nd VB I was up and walking 3 minutes after I pushed him out, gave him a quick feed then passed DC2 to DH and went to clean up, was home that night back to DC1 and having champers dominos for tea, it was bliss! Whereas I know if I had a CS it would be a completely different story, I’m just gonna have to see how the pregnancy goes I guess too

My first pregnancy I was lucky, it was pretty easy going apart from gestational diabetes. It is childbirth that gives me the fear. My first I was induced at 38 weeks and that took 72 hours and 3 pesseries to get to 1cm. I had manual rotation and emergency forceps (would of been a csec if they couldn't turn him). Aswell as an episiotomy I tore and lost 2 litres of blood. I had to have a vaginal pack in for 24 hours and 2 blood transfusions. This is a planned second child but the anxiety is here already (not even 5 weeks in!). Thinking of asking for a csec just to feel like I have some control Confused x

@Janxyb Jesus I wouldn’t blame you! If it’s any comfort though.. I had an induction with my first and it was horrendous, went into spontaneous labour with 2nd and it was so much better! Felt better and easier, it was just horrendously painful for me for the last 2.5hrs, I still remember the pain like it was yesterday but still.. loads better than first labour (induction). I’m thinking the same (Csec) but, just really worried about recovery with a 5yo & 18mo (who’s still breastfeeding). I’m at the the same point as you (5w) and it was the first thing I thought of when I got the BFP.. the birth Hmm
