3rd trimester weight gain

Morning all. I'm 32w today and my weight gain has totally plateaued over the las 4 weeks. I was 11 stone when I got pregnant (BMI 23, I'm quite tall) and went down to 10 stone 8 over the first trimester due to nausea. Then started gaining a bit, but have been stuck at 11 stone 3 for the past month.

So far the pregnancy has been problem-free, only a tiny tiny bit of high blood sugar - not diabetes, no treatment or follow-up, just told to be careful with carbs. No aches or pains, I eat normally and go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week for HIIT classes, and I'm only just starting to find these tiring. Baby's movements are non-stop.

Sorry for all the waffle. Basically my question is, has anyone else had this and was it necessarily a problem?

It's not a huge problem unless you become underweight. If you are finding hiit tiring now it may be wise to cut back a little, either drop a session a week or have shorter sessions. You don't want to burn out before birth, especially if you are reducing your fat reserves. You could add in some extra calories if you want to keep up the exercise, extra portion of lean protein is a good addition.

There is no set weight gain. As long as baby is growing fine.
I'm 38 weeks and have gained 2lbs altogether. Baby is estimated at 7lb 2 at my 37 week scan.

You're in a good position, I'm jealous! All fine as long as baby is healthy and happy

Thanks for the reassurance! On the one hand I'm a bit pleased if it means less work to get back in shape after the birth, but I can't help wondering if it means the baby's not getting all she needs. I'm definitely going to have to go easier on the exercise now. And if there's still no change I'll have a chat with the midwife. At least I know the baby's not short on energy, she never stops!
