So. Tired. Never ever felt this tired in my entire life.... And it's going to get worse?!
I've been averaging 4-5 hrs of broken sleep each night since mid Jan and over the last 2 weeks I've been suffering with itchiness (blood tests are clear) that means I'm getting 1-2 hrs before waking for the same duration. Up until now I've had to stay awake all day whilst I'm WFH but my mat leave has now started so I'm hopeful I can nap during the day now to try and catch up.
But I napped this lunchtime for an hour or two and this evening I just feel like I've got nothing left... I feel completely defeated by tiredness.... It's my first pregnancy and I'm not a spring chicken so I guess that doesn't help either... But I just wonder how on earth would I cope if I had a child already!!! Total admiration for those already with kids!
Do you think I'll catch up with sleep before labour now I'm on mat leave and can sleep in the day?! Or is this it...

Aww hun ❤ is there anything that helps you get over to sleep? I found one of the pregnancy pillows a life saver in the final trimester but I didn't suffer with itchiness so not sure if that would help.

Just try and sleep when you can now you are on mat leave. Doesn't really matter if your routine is a bit all over the place as it will be with baby anyway, so if you can get a good block of sleep in the afternoon then go with it!

Nothing worse than being tired and not able to sleep! ☹

@BabyBunnyMama thank you xx I did a bit better last night, finally got some piriton following midwife advice and that helped massively I think, not sure how much of the itching went away though but the sedative effect may have over powered the Itch! Yay! At least I feels like I have got 2 stints of sleep 4 hrs then 2 or 3...hopefully I'll have it again tonight... Going to be the napping queen! It really is a the itching that's keeping me awake, I have built quite a pillow Fort/nest so I can get comfortable no problem xxx

The itchiness is really tough. I had that with my first child. (And I know it's been checked so it's just itchiness).

What I would say is that the tiredness is worse when you are at late stage pregnancy! Now you are on maternity leave, you can rest & nap & please do so you are as rested as possible before baby comes.

I didn't find the tiredness from babies as hard. Physically I wasn't lugging a big bump around, and while I was kept awake, there was a 'reason' for it! You might find the same. Good luck 💐

@EarringsandLipstick thank you 😊 I'm glad to hear someone found it not so bad once baby had arrived! I keep trying to remain positive that I'll be a lot more comfortable and lighter haha once it's here and that in itself will hopefully make me feel less tired if only for a short while 😂 Xx

I agree, the tiredness after baby arrives is different. At least then you have a reason you are awake and you're busy feeding/changing/soothing or whatever baby needs and once they are settled you know you can get back to sleep yourself.

When you are pregnant you are just lying there frustrated because you can't sleep and can't do much to get to sleep.

Just hang in there and sleep when you can! You're almost at the finish line now 🥰
