Bending over while pregnant!

I was wondering if I’m doing damage to my baby by bending over, like with my back and not my legs, I absentmindedly do it so it’s not on purpose all the time when I remember I’ll squat and I didn’t think much of it until I was bending over now sorting my washing out and I was getting a little bit of pain in my lower stomach on the right side then I was thinking that I’ve been bending over quite a lot and not thinking of it but it’s got me worried now. I’m 17 weeks and my BMI is 36 so I had a belly to begin with so I don’t have any sort of bump yet but I’ve just worried myself I’m crushing my baby by bending in half or hurting them in some way like hurting their body, this may sound ridiculous but just wanted to know!

No its fine

AllHallowsEve14 · 27/03/2021 12:31

It won't harm the baby but if it's uncomfortable for you don't do it :-)

SnooperTrooper12345 · 27/03/2021 12:34

No you're not 🤦🏻‍♀️

Buttonsbrown · 27/03/2021 14:09

No it's fine if you can still do it. I'm 35 weeks now and sometimes forget and will lean over at an awkward angle or roll over at night - my baby makes it very known that I have disturbed her with a few swift kicks to show her disdain at being lurched around in there!

I was still bending over and tying my own shoelaces right up to birth with my twins, I was huge. Does no harm but can get uncomfortable for you, baby is well cushioned by fluid.

Lizbb · 27/03/2021 16:03

@Buttonsbrown hiya they do say squat but it's very easy to forget. Try not to worry x

I0NA · 27/03/2021 16:05

What they said. Remember to paint your toenails now while you still can.

If that’s your thing of course Grin

Baby will be fine. I’m in a a job that requires loads of bending. Both my babies are fine.

RizzleRazzle · 27/03/2021 16:09

Bending over definitely won't crush your baby!

PotteringAlong · 27/03/2021 16:11

It’s fine! How do you reckon people who are pregnant who have toddlers to look after get on? The baby is very well protected in there.

Tryingtogetitright · 27/03/2021 16:14

Baby will be fine, but do take care of you! I gave myself an umbilical hernia bending straight over when I was about 24 weeks pregnant! Had to have an operation to repair it, youngest is almost 4 now and it's been uncomfortable for 4.5 years! Such a relief to get it fixed.

Tryingtogetitright · 27/03/2021 16:15

Sorry, that wasn't clear, had the hernia and discomfort for 4.5 years. Now it's been repaired I'm fine!

Buttonsbrown · 27/03/2021 16:52

Thank you everyone! Definitely put my mind at ease with that one, I didn’t think much of it until today when it actually started to give me a bit of pain! I’ll be doing the squat from now on then! Haha
