Have I dropped?

This is my second pregnancy (last one was 5 years ago)

I am only 31+5 weeks. The picture in my underwear was taken at 31+1 and the other picture was taken now at 31+5.

About 2 hours ago, I had really bad pelvic pain and lots of tightenings (over about a half hour period) making me have to slow breath and I couldn't move very well with them, baby was moving lots when this was happening which made it worse. These have eased off now and all is feeling okay.

I do however feel that since today's pains and tightenings, I am much lower, which is why I took the picture to compare. What do you think?

Also, is this something that I should be talking to my midwife about ASAP or is it normal at 31-32 weeks? Baby is moving just fine and the pains have eased off (just got the usual painless braxton hicks now) but the top of my bump defiantly feels much closer to my belly button than it was before and my ribs don't feel as compressed.

I didn't drop until about 36 weeks with my first..

I would say baby has turned from a back to back to anterior position...when your bump is more round it suggests babys laying with it's back along your front of your tummy.

I'm not a midwife or anything in the field...just that posterior babys make a less rounded front of bump

From the images, you can see that your underwear is much higher at the back than the one in pink, which will give a distorted perception...

If you're worried, give triage a call. They may say take some paracetamol/ monitor/ come in!

I don't think you look lower particularly but I would agree with the poster above who thinks the baby has turned - your bump is a different shape and it's bloody painful and can make you feel nauseous when they turn. Happy days if baby has turned for you because you wouldn't want a back to back labour.

I agree with PPs that baby has probably turned rather than dropped. Doesn't look lower to me. If anything, looks lower in the first

Sweettea1 · 26/03/2021 21:16

As above have said baby has moved/turned your shape looks different.

It looks the same to me. As pp said it's the clothes you are wearing in different ways that distort perception.
