High NT 3.2 NT

Hi , my baby has 3.2 NT in first screening . It's nasal bone is fine and also the development of the rest of the body parts too. Doctor suggested to do a DNA test to see whether there is a chance of having a genetic disease. My age is 32 and did the DNA test yesterday. I am worried about this episode and appreciate your inputs to have a positive hope.

Hi, I am 31 and had an NT of 2.9 and low Papp A putting me in a v high risk category. Your NT isn’t even above the limit that they do extra testing on so try not to worry. If your screening comes back low risk they’ll stop there.
I did the harmony twice and both came back inconclusive but went for Amnio on Monday which has come back as clear.

The measurements are so small that it’s quite hard to be accurate. Also, they take the highest measurement of all the ones they do, to be cautious. My NHS reading was 6mm higher than a private one I got subsequently because they err on the side of caution. There are also LOADS of positive stories about NT much higher than yours.
It’s definitely easier said than done but try not to worry. Worrying is the worst xx

at 12 weeks my baby had a measurement of 3.3mm, i was told unless over 3.5mm that they weren't concerned. I was worried (too much googling, which is NOT your friend). I think without googling and going by the reactions of the professionals i wouldn't have even worried. I'm 30 weeks now, i didn't have any other tests, my 20 week scan was 'perfect'. Like PP said, there are SO many positive stories of babies with NT measurements higher than ours. x

Today i am going to collect the report results :(

@hashe hope it goes ok xxx high high high chances are it will

CheeseandWine91 · 31/03/2021 10:29

My NT measurement was 3.3mm plus concerns of a cystic hygroma. I was made to feel like it was literally the end of the road. They have to errr on the side of caution, I get that but it made me completely despair. Two days later I had a consultant scan who dismissed the hygroma, said there wasn't one, and the measurement had already gone down to 2.8. NIPT came back completely clear as well - best money I've ever spent! I'm now 36+1 with a healthy active baby boy!

There are so so many good stories following a high NT measurement, the odds are in your favour!

Wishing you all the best OP. I'm waiting for my results too x

I am so sorry. What happened? How can that be?

What test is it?

hashe · 31/03/2021 16:57

NIPT , the DNA test. Initially they said it will take two weeks. Generally they keep a buffer and tell. But Manager subsequently said can give in one week time. But now he said it is a miscommunication

We meet another doctor to get an second opinion , and he said , the chance of having down's in our case is very low. He said in some researches the upper limit is treated as 3.5. In his experience the range had upto 3.5 has delivered healthy babies in all the cases. Further he said even up to 4.5 has delivered healthy babies mostly. He said we are in the safe side so not to worry.

Hi Friends, today my NIPT report was due. But unfortunately due to high data noise they say they want to run the test again. They say my DNA is much high in baby's DNA than my husband. They refer it as " High data Noise". The lab recommend to meet a doctor and get it clarified until they do the second screening due on 15th. Hard luck continues.

Hi everyone, even second time i got the same "High Data Noise" from the same vendor. But in parallel we did a NIPT with another vendor too. Today we got all parameters low risk. So hope everything gonna be ok. Much appreciate your support and consolation.

Hi Ladies...

This is my very first post. Found this amazing forum while playing google detective and it has been sooooo comforting! I am 31 in a few weeks from South Africa. Last week we got an NT of 2.89 and were sent to do bloods. Yesterday I received the news that I am high risk for down syndrome. I got the results telephonically and was not able to ask questions. All I have done is cry and google. Prior to this in May I had a threatened abortion and was bleeding because the placenta had partially separated from the uterus wall.

I am awaiting approval for my NIPT test and will be going to the Dr on Monday to get further answers. But for now I am going crazy with worry and I can only imagine what my poor baby is feeling.

PLEASE HELP!

Hi.
I found these threads so helpful to me in the last few weeks and I thought I put my story of hope.
We went for our first scan on 20th December got told straight away from sonographer that our baby had hight nt of 6.7. We was in the room for 10 minutes no second opinion just got told to that a specialist midwife would speak to us. It was all doom and gloom practically got told the facts and that maybe i would misscary. Had bloods taken. My odds came back as 1/14 for downs and 1/28 for edwards patau. I was also referred to Oxford for the cvs on 30th December. Christmas was a drag and felt so down. When we went Oxford they were so nice they scanned me again babys nt had gone down to 3.5 and nose bone was present. I still had the procedure as the nt was still slightly high. The wait for results is awful . Lucky enough I had clear results . I also had heart scan again clear and last Thursday had my 20 week scan and everything is looking on track. So far so good (touching wood) my point is don't give up hope I know its easy for me to say now as I feel very lucky. But from my first scan I felt so down and they put the fear of life in me. The first sonographer I saw I feel now was very rushed and didn't have a second opinion. I can finally now start enjoying my pregnancy. I thought I share my story as like I said these threads really did help me.

Hi I’ve been looking at this site since I received my 11 weeks NT scan. They told me baby’s NT is high, 3.6mm then we did another one at 13 weeks saying 3.2mm now at 16 weeks they told me 4.12 mm. High risk in DS for NIPT.

My mind is growing crazy and dont know what to do.

Hope to hear from you moms, moms to be

Del14 · 21/03/2022 20:32

Hi EasterNeon
How are you getting on?
It such a worry I know. The waiting game is the worse.
My story so far is postive . I had 24 week scan last Wednesday and all seems well with baby .
Have you had a cvs?

Zanina · 21/03/2022 23:21

Hello I had my baby 6 months ago. Healthy and thiving. At the 12 weeks scan they said she had a raised NT and cystic hygroma. As the weeks went on we could see that it was normalising. I went for an amniocentesis which is the most accurate testing and it came back clear. And as time went on the NT went away as did the cystic hygromas.
I would highly recommend avoiding the other tests such as NIPT because they won't actually give you an answer, it's still a probability. Amniocentesis takes amniotic fluid (baby urine / dna) and test that directly. It may seem scary but you barely feel it. Its so quick and very safe. I've been through the stages of worry and it's so taxing which is why I recommend the amniocentesis so you literally get your answer. Wishing you all the best.
