Bloody show to labour experiences?

Hi girls!
I'm 36+5 today.

How long between your bloody show did you go into labour?

I'm being induced Saturday for problems during this pregnancy, so I received a sweep on Tuesday afternoon and the midwife said I was 2cm dilated with a soft cervix but it was still long and posterior.

I've had some period pains yesterday but nothing to sing and dance about, I've been losing mucus plug for weeks but this morning I lost a ton of what I believe to be a bloody show!
I was induced with my first girl, so I never had the natural experience of labour.

It was mucus tinged with blood and from what I've read usually that's what your "show is" (I hope anyway!)

What was your experience? Hours, days, weeks? TYIA 💞

I had my bloody show and contractions started about a hour later.

Good luck!

@TheBabyAteMyBrain oh wow that's a good sign then! I've not had any pains yet, going to go for a walk later today 🤞🏽

With my last pregnancy I had a bloody show at 35/36 weeks and DS was born at 40+2. I don't think that's very common though.

Hope that's not the case for you and it's a good sign. Good luck.

First pregnancy it was a few days (but labour was very long)

Second labour started 2 days later

Third my waters went that might and baby was.born next day Grin good luck

I didn't go into labour until 2 weeks after my bloody show 😂

pineapplejuice20 · 25/03/2021 08:41

@SnooperTrooper12345 that's bizarre! Everything online says it usually means labour is round the corner, our bodies are strange 🤣

My waters broke and the mucus plug came away at that point, contractions started an hour later and baby was here three hours after that. So it might be quick!

pineapplejuice20 · 25/03/2021 11:23

So far I'm still all good just keep losing more and more of my show every time I go to the toilet! Seems to be never ending 🥴

I lost my mucous plug a few hours after my 2nd sweep, baby was born 4 hours later! 🙈 (I did tell the midwife to really go to town on me with my sweep though 🤣)

This is going to sound weird but google red/purple line during labour. It definitely worked for me - as in when I didn't know if I was in labour or not, the appearance of the line confirmed I definitely was.

BrumBoo · 25/03/2021 11:43

First baby - 5 days between losing plug to having baby. Proper labour didn't start for 4 days, though lots of stop/start in between.

Second - waters went about 3 hours after losing plug BUT he wouldn't budge. Absolutely zero sign of labour just before and after losing plug/waters. Had to be induced 24 hours later.

Hope baby three will behave better...

pineapplejuice20 · 25/03/2021 11:55

@MyGrassIsBrowner oh wow!! See my sweep was really quick and I hate them so I wasn't relaxed at all so I really didn't think much would come of it, however something must of worked if my show is coming away 🤣

@Wnikat il definitely have a look into that I've never heard of it!

@BrumBoo I also hope baby behaves for you this time! I've never gone naturally, my first I was induced although my induction was very quick to say she was my first! Just hope I go naturally I'd love to experience it all.

@pineapplejuice20 They're not the most pleasant things for sure and I know a lot of women will avoid them altogether as they can be pretty intrusive to say the least. I was 13 days over at my 2nd sweep and was so determined I was going to avoid induction. I will say me and DH bonked when I got home too and I think that may have helped things along even more! If you can stand it and your partner is up for it I really would recommend a cheeky session! 🤣

Show at 5pm. Baby born at 11pm after two hours labour. First baby.
