I'm due to have an mri tomorrow on my head and I'm 30 weeks pregnant. My consultant has said it's safe, google says it safe but I'd like to hear real people experiences. I'm anxious not of the procedure but for the baby. Has anyone had one while pregnant?

Can’t comment on getting one but I was meant to get one on my ear canal and it got postponed until after I give birth. I’m Scotland so might be different elsewhere.

Hi, I've had MRIs when pregnant with my first. The MRI itself is safe and fine as it's just magnets but they won't be able to use the contrast injection that they normally do halfway through. Hope that helps.

Might be a good idea to call the imaging department ahead of time and let them know/remind them.

Hi,
I had a fetal mri at about 26 weeks pregnant. It was uncomfy but I was reassured it was safe for baby even though she was the focus of the MRI. I was concerned about the noise of the machine damaging her hearing but she passed her first hearing check perfectly

@99redspottedducks I've been referred for one to check placental location due to previous c section they've assured me it is totally safe!! No danger at all to baby x
