Maternity allowance - does any one know when it’s paid?

Just wondering if anyone knows if payment is the date you stated you want it to start (I said 1st April), or if it’s 2/4 weeks afterwards? (Depending on what option you chose - I chose every 2 weeks). Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. TIA! :)

I’ve just had my letter yesterday . I’m now a SAHM so starts at 29 weeks which they take from the Sunday so 28/2.

So I’m getting a lump payment to cover 28/2 until 15/3 when the letter was sent. This is 5-10 working days of the 15th.

Then 2 weekly payments start 29/03 for the remaining 37 weeks. 151.20 a week to 11/04 then 151.97 until 27/11.

So I would say they pay a sum to cover to the regular pay date then 2 weekly from then .

I was informed when I called about what date to put that If your no longer working at time of application they start from 29 weeks regardless of date

Thank you for your replies! I wish I could re-write the information for maternity pay on the government website, they do such a good job of making it as confusing as they possibly can!

Oh yes I agree. I’ve spent weeks reassuring myself I covered the 13/26 /66 weeks ( was on maternity and leave in the 66 week period) and although I knew I did I convinced myself I’d mis read it all 🙈
