So the last couple of months I've suddenly become really broody DD is 19 months old and still very much a baby! I wanted to wait until she is at least 3 but I'm not sure if I can wait until autumn! What age gaps do you have and is there a perfect time for number 2?

We have a 3 year age gap, it was great when they were younger. They still get on now but obviously the age gap matters less as they get older.

Started trying when DD was 10 months, currently 7 weeks pregnant. Only took a month to conceive this time, for DD it was more like 4 months.
I genuinely don’t think that there is an ideal gap, we wanted quite a small gap as we only want 2. I want to feel like I have my body back.
Obviously depends on what you can afford, lots of people wait for a 3 yr gap as then you get the free hours at nursery.

@Tibtab I've been thinking about nursery as a factor DD is and august baby so we were aiming for a year in September at the earliest as she won't be able to go to nursery over the summer! we conceived DD really fast too only took the one month so we're conscious of that too!

@Bunnybigears I love the idea of a 3 year age gap, my best friend had that growing up and our friendship groups mixed really well I'm still friends with a lot of her sisters friends now! I don't want to go more than that for sure though! There's a massive age gap (10 years) between me and my brother and I feel like I missed out on the sibling relationship!

Started trying when DS was 3 and 9months. Only took one full ovulation cycle to conceive. 4.5 year age gap, which has worked really well for us even though they aren’t as close in age for playing.

I suppose it depends doesn’t it.
I had a none sleeping, high needs, very very challenging first born.
Nearly broke me.
So it wasn’t until he slept a full night through and was at school aged 5 that I felt strong enough to maybe think about it.
Up until that point, absolutely not.
Took another 5 years and multiple miscarriages to get number 2.

Happily, the two are like night and day, number 2 an absolute breeze in comparison to my first.
Thank GOD!

We conceived number 2 when ds1 was 18 months old. So there's just over 2 years between them. Then there's nearly 4 years between the next two.

Started trying at 3:months. Unsuccessful so stopped trying at 9 years 3 months

We decided that we wanted a minimum of a 2 year age gap, so we started TTC when DC1 was 15 months old.

There’s a bit more than 2 years between DC1 and DC2, but it’s a good age gap for playing together. Although there’s also a fair bit of sibling rivalry.
