7+1 and feeling pretty yucky! I didn't have this with DC1 so I'm struggling ☹️

Just sitting down to write a meal plan and shopping list for this week but there's nothing I fancy, which is most unlike me as I usually love my food. I'm trying to eat well but my diet is a bit beige at the minute, everything I think of makes me feel a bit green 🤢

What are you all enjoying eating lately? Please give me some inspiration!

I also would like to know this as I'm feeling awful, just the thought of food turns my stomach 🤢 following!
Hope you feel better soon x

Chelyanne · 19/03/2021 10:14

Just eat what you can for now, it will get better.

The 1st trimester was a carb fest for me. Once nausea started easing the healthier meals returned as I could stand to cook them again.

MGee123 · 19/03/2021 10:16

We swapped to near daily shopping for a few months as what I could eat varied so much. I didn't really want to eat anything so it was just what would stay down. Mostly beige plain food with little nutritional value 😂 you might have to go with the flow a bit for a few weeks rather than having set meals. Don't beat yourself up over it, it will get better and naff nutrition for a few weeks won't do any harm. Just eat what you feel like when you feel like 👍

Rose2108 · 19/03/2021 11:38

I am the exact same date as you! And feeling the same. I find I am okay in the morning, feel awful from midday - 5pm and then suddenly the hunger comes over me!! I haven't been sick which is good, just no appetite at all and often feel a bit dizzy and exhausted.

I've found over the last week or so certain things I can eat. I used to eat alot of fruit but can't seem to stomach it at the moment. Porridge in the morning with sliced banana and honey seems to go down well, or a bagel with peanut butter and banana! Then I snack on some nuts in the morning and probably have a cereal bar or some belvita biscuits at 11ish.

I really haven't been able to eat lunch but will eat some dry crackers, sometimes with soft cheese on them. Today I am hoping to eat a wrap with some kind of filling... maybe halloumi and salad?

For dinner I have been eating jacket potato with tuna & sweetcorn, rice with something (fish if I can stomach it or just some veg chopped up, like stir fry rice), or chips and something from the freezer! I was feeling really guilty about not eating the right food but the other ladies are right, just eat what you can, when you can!

Rose2108 · 19/03/2021 11:39

Oh and would also recommend soreen / malt loaf as a snack! Toasted with some butter!

idontlikealdi · 19/03/2021 11:46

Mash
White toast and butter
Haribo

That was it, for 14 weeks. Didn't do any harm:)

FTM91 · 19/03/2021 12:39

I couldn't meal plan in the first 13 weeks - what I fancied or couldn't stomach changed on a daily basis. I just made sure to keep stocked up on things that I generally fancied. On one end, Bread, fishh fingers and other beige freezer food. On the other end crates of easy peelers!!

Justanothercyster · 19/03/2021 12:52

@MGee123 I recognise your username from an old ttc bus :) I changed mine but used to be Newbie0818. Glad to see you got your bfp :)

Beige all the way it seems!

LittleTiger007 · 19/03/2021 13:25

In the first trimester some meals I simply couldn’t eat as they turned my stomach... pasta was suddenly slimy and made me want to vomit etc... so I had back up instant mash and pizzas in the freezer. That gets better! I promise. 31 weeks now and eating fairly normally although some days I’m full really quickly so I just eat the veg and protein. It’s so different for everyone.
Early on I made lots of flapjack... that was good to nibble on, gave energy and quelled the urge to vomit.

LittleTiger007 · 19/03/2021 13:26

Oh and easy peelers! I too ate crates of these!

Nesski · 19/03/2021 14:54

I just had cold ham sandwiches or cold ham wraps the entire first trimester, still eating these for dinner as I approach 28 weeks due to indigestion.

And craved Singapore rice noodles and Indian so had this three times a week; can't stand both as soon as I hit 13 weeks!!!

AlackAlasAlackaday · 19/03/2021 15:01

I couldn't meal plan in the first 13 weeks - what I fancied or couldn't stomach changed on a daily basis.

I'm 7+3 and genuinely can't really on still wanting to eat a particular item of food in the 5-20 minutes it takes to cook it / warm it up. I end up with a lot of apples and easy peelers because I don't have time to change my mind before I eat them Confused. Batchelor's Cheese and Broccoli pasta (the one that cooks on the hob in 5 min) is another relative success (though it probably won't be after I post this), porridge, McDonald's, omelette with tomatoes and mushrooms in, baked beans. I'm eating like a toddler basically.

Nnovember · 19/03/2021 15:03

I could have written your post, I am 7 + 1 too.

My diest and tastebuds have gone all weird. I can't plan what I want to eat in the week. I literally have to eat whatever the desire is at the time. For example, I might want chips tomorrow night, but by the time the night comes I've gone off it! So I just decided within the hour or so what I will eat. It is very annoying! I've completed gone off anything sweet or seasoned.

AegonT · 19/03/2021 15:13

I couldn't plan ahead at all because what I could stomach change daily and was usually just one food. I sent my husband a message before he left work each day with what I thought I could eat for dinner and he'd buy the food/ingredients on the way home. For breakfast I could usually cope with cornflakes and I would buy lunch before work each day.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 19/03/2021 15:20

Meal planning when pregnant? Ive got a one word response to that- dont 😂

I went completely off my food and in the early weeks could only tolerate pretty much plain white carbs and i completely beat myself up for it. It will pass.

I was so off my food i actually started crying in Tesco at 16 weeks because i didnt even want pizza Blush i mean its pizza ffs prior to then it would be unfathomable to not want pizza!

My solution was to just walk around the supermarket and see what didnt turn my stomach & have plenty of long life stuff the house in so i wouldn't waste fresh food.

Thank God my appetite came back, but then i just threw everything up instead hahaha.

madeinthe80z · 19/03/2021 15:27

I remember fancying something one day and then my husband would thought we'd cracked it and go buy more...but alas, no, the next day it would turn me green. My fridge freezer was full of part opened packets of everything. The only thing I could stomach consistently was fruit!

glow92 · 19/03/2021 16:10

Completely in the same boat.
Told my partner he needs to do the big shop tomorrow and just get whatever he wants!
Can only stomach the thought of white bread, plain pasta, really basic cereal and a couple other bits... really hope this doesn't last long it's horrible 😞.

DragonPoop · 19/03/2021 16:28

All I could eat exclusively for at least the first 16 weeks was:
Boiled rice with a bit of mayo stirred in,
white toast with a bit of butter,
Plain spaghetti with a bit of Philadelphia stirred in,
McDonald’s cheeseburger,
Grated mozzarella and butter in mash or on a jacket potato,
Water biscuits,
Pom bears.

NW2021 · 19/03/2021 18:14

It’s so reassuring reading this post! I thought my baby would turn out to be a carb the amount of white stuff I’ve eaten. 8 pregnant and finding it a struggle to eat healthy! I’m hoping my the 2nd tri meals will be a little more normal.

Marvelwife123 · 19/03/2021 19:01

I couldn’t meal plan at this stage, it changed daily what I fancied and could keep down. Nightmare during Covid times as you can’t just pop out. I loved Burger King and kfc...when I’m not pregnant I not fussed by them at all. I love cold toast with non melted butter at the moment 😂

BabyBooDueNov21 · 19/03/2021 19:10

I'm VERY glad to hear that I'm not the only one not feeling great - although I'm sorry you're all in the same boat Grin

We already have children so I have to have some level of planning and organisation for them, and the pandemic makes me not want to pop to the shop daily (which would probably be beneficial.)

I wrote a normal-ish meal plan and ordered my shopping - I'll either manage to stomach it on the day or I'll have cereal instead...

Itsjustaride8w737 · 19/03/2021 19:18

I lived off mash, Macdonalds and jacket potatoes in my first trimester.

Coming up to my third and although I'm not crazy on food i eat most things.

Tots0611 · 19/03/2021 19:22

Weeks 6-9 I couldn't shop in store or meal plan as it made me feel so sick.
I mainly lived off carbs... Bread, ravioli, toasties. it does pass so try not to worry and just eat what you fancy at this stage

MGee123 · 19/03/2021 19:23

Congrats to you too @Justanothercyster ! We did indeed finally get there after a round of IVF. Feeling very lucky! Glad you are on this side of the board now too 😀

PippityChippity · 19/03/2021 23:01

I have eaten some form of (Homemade) curry and rice for 4 out of 5 evening meals this week. Today I had a burger (No cheese, can’t stomach it) and chips. For lunches I’ve been eating a packet of flavoured (Preferably spicy Mexican) Uncle Bens microwave rice and Belvita breakfast biscuits for breakfast. Minimal fruit or veg except from the odd apple here and there. I literally cannot face any other food aside from curry at the moment and am just going with the flow. The thought of eating much else makes me feel so unwell. I’m 10+6 and have been like this since about 7 weeks, with really strong food aversions/cravings for very spicy food and flavours. You just have to roll with it and take each day as it comes - Don’t worry too much about fruit and veg intake at the moment, there are sooooooo many ladies on here and off that do without for the whole pregnancy and come out with healthy babies. My SIL ate ryvita and Marmite for about 35 weeks of her pregnancy with perhaps the odd portion of chips or pasta with cheese thrown in due to horrendous sickness and had a very healthy baby. Supplements may help if you’re feeling worried about this.
