When I was pregnant with my 3rd child the midwife, friends, family, strangers.... anyone I told basically! They would say " ohhhh 3rd babys are unpredictable!! They can come so quick! Be careful! " blah blah blah.. but now I'm pregnant with my 4th a year later and no one has said anything like that! Why is it just 3rd babys?

Our 3rd was my best vb. I started contracting on my due date, went to hoplspital 2 days later at 5cm. After 5 hours they talked me in to breaking waters, she was delivered 11 minutes later. My midwife wasn't in the room when I started pushing as she thought it'd take quite a while to get to the pushing stage, 3 pushes and she was out. Tore from V2A, bit weird when they stitch you up back there.

I guess a lot less people have a 4th pregnancy so the anecdata dries up there!

Ah what pp says may be the case. I know lots of people who have 3 children but not so many who had more.
This one will be my 5th birth, 6th baby. In the minority in general but larger families are quite common round my neck of the woods.

I'd heard the same but when I was planning for the home birth of my youngest child, DC3, my midwife said that third babies were generally quite straightforward but fourth babies were more unpredictable. So exactly the opposite!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/03/2021 10:06

My third was my easiest
Fourth not too bad despite being back to back
Fifth, a bloody nightmare

BurningBenches · 19/03/2021 10:42

Like @Chelyanne and @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE my 3rd was the easiest of my 4.

4 was ok, but took longer to get started and was longer (only 4hrs though)

Expecting 5 and really hoping I don't follow @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE trend this time 😬😬

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/03/2021 11:06

🤞 fingers crossed for you @BurningBenches

Chelyanne · 19/03/2021 11:54

@BurningBenches hopefully your baby will be good to you.

I didn't have to labor last time as our twins were breech and I had to have elcs. Hoping to get a vbac this time but preparing for possible cs again if things don't go well.

Skymum82 · 19/03/2021 16:05

Ha ha. My second was my easiest only due to it being a little quicker and actually only needing a few stitches. Third all went well but for some reason I really tore 🤦🏼‍♀️😂. Both were water births so no idea why I tore so badly although did push her out in 2 contractions 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
