Hello everyone

I’m feeling super rubbish and would appreciate your help.

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and for the last 2 weeks the nausea has gone - hurray! - but been replaced by feeling constantly like I have a cold / flu. Headaches, really really sore and scratchy dry eyes, constantly sniffing, sore throat.

Is this a thing? I know mucous production goes into overload during pregnancy...

Any recommendations for what to do? I can’t sleep, I feel horrible :(

Thank you

I had quite a few headaches around 15-18 weeks but they cleared up after that. I think it’s quite common around that time x

Thanks Katie, that’s helpful.

Any ideas about the mucousy/ cough symptoms? It isnt coronavirus, I was tested recently for travel (I’m in a country where domestic travel is fine)

Not sure about the mucus and cough but I’ve been congested basically all pregnancy and had to breathe through my mouth! It’s called pregnancy retinitis and it’s really common maybe it’s similar to that?

Ah sounds familiar, perhaps we are in the same boat!

Horrible headache again for hours today. Just such a waste of a weekend.

Can sympathise entirely on the cough. I cough like a long term smoker every morning and a little bit at night. (I have never smoked).

I'm 23 weeks and I've had it for a couple of months i think. I'm already worrying about what will be said if I end up on a ward!!!

I presume it is post nasal drip but I'm afraid I have no good advice for you. My last pregnancy I had a terrible cough (in that case actually some sort of virus) aside a nasty nasty cold that lasted for weeks and weeks. I had to go to hospital for something else and coughed and coughed the whole time I was there. The doctor went off to prescribe me somrthing because she felt so sorry for me but came back and said nothing was safe! I drank so much honey and lemon I thought my teeth would fall out.

Headaches... have had some very nasty ones (very unusal for me) throughout second trimester. I've found they tend to start when I've left it too long between eating, especially in the morning and then I just can't shift them. So only advise I can give you there is lots of water and make sure you are eating frequently.

Sorry, nothing really helpful to say except I sympathise entirely.

If 3 pregnancies have taught me anything its that being pregnant, albeit a privilege, is 9 months of suffering in some shape or form. And the medical community can do very little to help. Though I'm bloody sure if men had to do this then there would be cures a plenty!

Thank you for your sympathy and kind words, even if the conclusion is there is nothing to be done! I hope the cough calms down.
