7weeks and freezing cold

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this.
I feel like I just can't get warm at all, I'm wrapped up in blankets and layers constantly, shivering and everything. With my last pregnancy I was warm all the time.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes! From when I found out at 4 weeks, I felt like a block of ice! I’m 9 weeks now and feeling a much more normal temperature again.

Toastedsesame · 18/03/2021 19:28

@standingonaseesaw oh that makes me feel a bit better. I was worrying something was wrong. I've had so many stretching pains this week as well.

I had the same in the initial few weeks (I'm 12wks now and seem to be ok) I remembering googling is it a symptom as really struggled to get warm.

Sunbird24 · 18/03/2021 19:41

Oh yes, I’m 6+4 and really been struggling with my internal thermostat! Didn’t help that my boiler conked out so I’ve had 3 nights camping on the sofa with all the blankets and the electric fire on. (It’s fixed now, hooray)
Drinking hot honey & lemon has helped a bit, do warm drinks make any difference for you?

LauraT94 · 18/03/2021 19:54

@Toastedsesame yup I'm 5 weeks and freezing! Pretty much spend the evenings under two blankets, a dressing gown and a cat! 😂

My theory is that as Pregnancy raises your internal temp, external temps feel colder to us? Could be nonsense but makes sense to me!

As @Sunbird24 says, hot drinks help too!

CraazyCatLady · 18/03/2021 20:01

That's just reminded me, when I was 5-8 weeks pregnant, I was in Sri Lanka, where it was obviously hot and I used to feel really cold in the evenings! It definitely wasn't at all cold though.

I can't remember at what point it changed to me then feeling boiling all the time!

Rose2108 · 18/03/2021 20:06

Yes I could have written this post myself! I'm 7 weeks now, and from 5 weeks onwards I've been getting chills, goosebumps, just cannot warm up. I carry my hot water bottle at all times!!

actiongirl1978 · 18/03/2021 20:08

I was newly pregnant in July 2008. I used to come home from work and put on pj's, ugg boots and a jumper and get under a feather duvet and sleep for 2 hrs. I used to shake I was so cold. Totally normal! My mum was exactly the same.

Peachee · 18/03/2021 20:10

Yes this pregnancy and last! Like the previous poster I was abroad during the first few weeks and I was freezing at night and couldn’t understand why everyone was in their short sleeves! I’m 10 weeks now and still cold sometimes.

Skymum82 · 18/03/2021 20:14

This happened to me too!
Never have I experienced it before in my last 4 pregnancy's.

Toastedsesame · 18/03/2021 20:15

Oh that's a relief! It's so weird, it feels a bit like when yr sick and you just want to wrap up and sleep. It seems worse when I'm tired too.

Hot drinks do help! And a hot bath! Wonder why I never experienced it in my previous pregnancy. This one has been so different so far, perhaps that means baby is a different sex.

Yup. 7 weeks too and I've been getting cold hands and feet. When I can I get under a duvet. I have a 1 year old, and I was warm all the way through that pregnancy. I did up my iron intake a bit though (leafy greens) because it can be a cause.

standingonaseesaw · 18/03/2021 21:43

I bought myself a heated throw but when my hands and feet get really cold it can still take me a couple of hours to get warm! Never had this in previous pregnancies either, so glad to hear it is fairly common.
