Hi, I was just wondering if there was anybody else who had applied for Maternity Allowance recently and how long it took to get it processed? I only sent mine last week and not due until the end of May but I was just curious as to how long it takes 😊

My recent post :) I’m still awaiting news back but looks like 2-3 weeks 😀

Hope it comes soon for you , the wait is a bit 😜 isn’t it x

Update - letter received today to say full amount to be paid within 5-10 working days ... and breathe .

So to summarise my case

2nd March sent via special delivery
3rd- text to say received and decision within 4 weeks
15 March - decision was made for full amount and letter sent out
20 March - letter received and payment within 5-10 days due.

Hope you hear soon too xx

I'm worried because I sent mine over a week ago and haven't had a confirmation text to say they've received it! I don't whether to ring them up and actually check it made it or not 🙈

They were fab on phone so I’m sure they won’t mind . I sent special next day delivery so if normal post may just take them a bit longer to receive and open

Ah right, you were much more sensible than me! I just stuck a first class stamp on and hoped it would get there 😂 might give them a call on Monday then just to see and stop me worrying so much.

Good plan :) let me know how you get on x

Hi @emmaAM - wondering if you could help - did you receive a text in the end? Asking as I sent my form two weeks ago and haven't received a text. I rang them today and they said it isn't on their system! I'm just wondering if I should resend the forms. How long did it take for you to hear back?

Thanks

EmmaAM · 07/07/2021 12:05

Hi @Bluebell5569,

Yes I finally received a text through from them but it took a while! I also rang them to check and then I think the day after the message came through. I think it was about 3 and a half weeks in the end.

Thanks so much for getting back to me @EmmaAM

Just to check - is that 3.5 weeks from sending your form to receiving the initial text? Or hearing back about your claim?

Maybe I should wait for another week before I resend everything.

Hi! I have just found out I am pregnant with my first child (5w5d) but I am due to start a new job end of Feb. From what I understand I won't be entitled to maternity pay but will have to apply for maternity allowance instead? I have been continuously employed it's just the fact im switching jobs! Can anyone shed some light on whether the maternity allowance is generally the same amount as maternity pay? i.e. around 450 per month? I am stresssssing out :)

It’s 151.97 per week so 600+ per month. Still crap but a tiny bit better than 450!

@pamparam ahhh thank you so much! That’s a relief! 😅
