Throwing up stomach acid after dinner... help!

Hi all,

I am 13 weeks + 2 days pregnant. From around 10 weeks, I started having digestion problem, I have small constant burps after meals (it's worse after dinner). If the burp doesn't come out, I feel like throwing up. First I try to hold the vomit, then sometimes with coughing, I end up throwing up, only stomach acid seems to come out, no food. I changed my diet, broke it down to 5-6 small meals a day, avoiding any trigger food for acid reflux. But I still feel verge of throwing up every evening after dinner, and I have no appetite at all. Tried gaviscon as well.. but doesn't seem to work. Actually I threw up even more after gaviscon. Sleeping is awful too, my neck and upper back are all tense from sleeping with two pillows..

Ladies who have experienced similar acid reflux, could you please let me know if you had any solution?

Is this part of morning sickness that will go away hopefully soon...?
I'm so scared that this will last for the entire pregnancy and worried that maybe throwing up acid every other day is not normal.

Unfortunately I found that it's something that can come and go throughout pregnancy and there's not that much to relieve it. I used to always find it worse after fatty meals so I tend to avoid anything heavy. Throwing up stomach acid with pregnancy sickness is perfectly expected if you're wrenching etc. Watch your teeth as it can have an awful effect though. Good luck x

Hi,
I am 38+1 now and unfortunately still having this problem. It did die down a little between around 14 and 28 weeks so hopefully you'll get a little respite too!
I tried gaviscon and it didn't really work. The pharmacist recommended Peptac which is similar to Gaviscon but far cheaper (£3.51) which you take after every meal up to 4 times per day. In the main this has worked really well for me, though still have the occasional days of nothing helping.
Obviously if you're not comfortable trying something else your midwife or GP should be able to suggest something?
Hope it does ease for you soon
