Vitamin b deficiency?

Hello, looking for a bit of advice about what to do. I’ve got it into my head that I might have a vitamin b deficiency. One of the main reasons is that I keep getting cracked corners of my mouth and lots of people who get this have said they had a vitamin b deficiency. I have a midwife appointment next week but it’s only over the phone, should I wait to then to ask about it? I feel like I phone the gp/ midwife a lot and I’m not sure I can bring myself to do it before the appointment but if i need to I will. Apparently it’s linked to things like premature birth, placental abruption and low birth weight, I’m currently 23 weeks. It annoys me that it’s not mentioned as a vitamin you have to take (along with vitamin d and folic acid) in pregnancy as having done some research it’s clearly needed! What would you do?

If I was you I would start taking some vitamin B or a pregnancy multivitamin containing it now - it won't do any harm - and speak to your midwife at your next appointment. You should definitely ask about this but I don't think vitamin B deficiency is the most common cause of cracks in the corner of your mouth (cold weather or a yeast infection probably more likely - especially in pregnancy) or that a couple of days will make any difference if you are deficient. Even if you are the solution would be to get more vitamin B which you can do yourself. Remember that risks associated with these things are still very rare even if they do apply to you - although I do know what it's like once you get an idea in your head!

I think it's included in the pregnancy vitamins. So I'd get some of them if I were you 😊

Thanks both. I’ve started taking pregnacare max every other day. I did start doing that a while ago but I really suffer from constipation and I thought the iron in them probably wasn’t helping so I stopped again! But it’s started doing it again this week when I started to wonder about this.
