Leukocytes in urine sample

Hi,
I’ve just had my first consultant appointment and when the nurse tested my urine she said it was 1+ leukocytes. Doctors just said “that’s fine” so I’m taking it it’s nothing to worry about, but just been looking online and it seems to say it means you’re likely to have a water infection. Just wondered if anyone here knows anything about this?
Thank you x

Hi, yes normally means a UTI. However, +1 is only slight.
So it probably isn't a UTI but could be the beginning of one. If its only a small bit, like yours, they don't tend to bother unless you develop symptoms

@SnooperTrooper12345
Thanks for your reply. I’m going to drink plenty of water and just keep an eye out for any symptoms. Thank you x

Leukocytes on its own and a low amount isn’t anything to be worried about. Usually with a UTI you’ll have blood, protein etc too.
Make sure you’re staying hydrated

Thanks @PeanutButterFalcon

I've had this in previous pregnancies and it was a bit of dehydration. Nothing major just encouraged to drink more.

UTI!
I had slightly elevated leukocytes. I had no other things flag up from my urine test but I know for certain I had a UTI because I was suffering with the symptoms! It just means you’re fighting off a slight infection.

Thanks @PutOnAHappyFace yes I think I might have been slightly dehydrated. I started off well early on drinking plenty of water but past few weeks I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve woken up with dry lips so I need to drink more water. It’s just laziness with me because I don’t like having to keep going to the loo!

@Oodilallygolly thanks, I haven’t noticed any symptoms of uti but I’m drinking lots of water so hopefully if anything there and it’s only mild i’ll be able to flush it out before it establishes itself.

I had a couple of uti’s in the months after I had my first child which doctors gave antibiotics for but at that time I started taking cranberry capsules as a preventative measure. Don’t know if you can take those when pregnant? X

Oh I'm the same. I'm 22 weeks now and the thought of having to pee any more because ive drank loads of water makes me wanna cry. Trying to be better though.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and just found out I have leukocytes in my urine and reading your post made me feel a little bit better. 🙃
