I currently work as an agency nurse and have been offered a job with a private company. My SMP is currently being calculated and the 8 weeks of calculating is due to end April 23rd. The new company are offering to cover the 6 weeks of 90% SMP my currently employers will pay but we need to know if I will stills be entitled to the standard SMP. I have called citezens advice but couldn't get through. Can anyone help? I'm aware of the whole 26weeks in continuous work etc but I need a way to ensure I get my SMP?

If you don't qualify for statutory maternity pay (and you won't if you start the job already pregnant) then you apply for Maternity Allowance instead
