Hi ladies just wondering if anyone has ever booked an early pregnancy scan privately but it was too early to give any indication?

Most will recommend waiting until 8wk plus as dates can be out by up to 2 weeks size wise on scans and can offer little yo no reassurance.

Personally I don't recommend a private scan before you've had a dating scan. EPAU scans for medical purposes then yes.
My last pregnancy I had a private scan at 8+3, baby measured 7+4 with a strong hb but I still felt very uneasy about the pregnancy. 4 days later started spotting and then mc at 9+3. I held out for my dating scan with current and glad I did as baby was very wriggly, I did have a private scan last week at 16+4 which was lovely and helped easy worry as she's grown so much.

I think that the majority will say don’t do it.

If it’s too early you just won’t see anything which then leads to panic and anxiety that there’s something wrong and obsession regarding dates following people encouraging a demand for appointments with epau and blood tests.

This seems to be the pattern repeated over and over and over again on this board.

Advice is wait until your 12 week NHS scan, then private scans after that if you want.

I would definitely agree that waiting until 8/9 weeks is best if you want reassurance before the 12 week scan. I had an early scan last week at 7+4 and their measurements put me back to 5+6. We saw a heartbeat and there was nothing to suggest anything is wrong but I was so sure of my dates that it's caused a lot of extra worry. I'm struggling to enjoy being pregnant now and wish I hadn't gone so early

I had an early scan at about 7 and a half weeks just before Christmas this year. I was torturing myself about symptoms coming and going and just wanted piece of mind. I'm 38 and think my concern was my age and something might go wrong or that I'd had a MMC. I decided to have the scan just to put my mind at rest for Christmas or alternatively, to bring any inevitable heartbreak forward a few weeks rather than prolonging it. I was lucky, the baby was there and fine and the experience was so lovely. I thought it was worth the money and was hugely reassured.

Sent that too early sorry, meant to add I've had friends who've had early scans at 5-7 weeks and it's not shown anything and they've been devastated/ hugely anxious, only for something to appear at 8-9 weeks. I think that's the optimum time and not seeing anything when it's very early is quite normal and not cause for panic, however how could one not panic in that situation.

I'd say wait until 8 weeks at least as you can be behind what you think you are and if you go at 6 weeks and you're actually 5, you might not see anything, especially a heartbeat so it can make anxiety worse
