Being induced tomorrow

I’m meant to be induced tomorrow at 40+12 with first baby. I am not overly excited about being induced but just want my baby here now!

I had a sweep yesterday but she couldn’t do it as the cervix was still too high, however I lost my plug this morning!

Has anyone had similar experiences? How long did it for baby to come after losing plug especially if you are overdue? I’m hoping he comes tonight and I won’t have to be induced!

I was induced at 40+10. At tat point I hadn't lost my plug and the midwife couldn't do a sweep as my scervix was too high. I was induced at 8.30am, waters broke at 6pm and baby was born by 5.15am the next day. Didn't lose my plug until about 10pm during the induction.
Good luck!

Do you have a birthing ball you can bounce on to try and get gravity to give you a hand? Walk up and down the stairs sideways (holding on) and try something spicy for dinner?

I was induced with my son and after they broke my waters, labour only lasted 2.5 hours so it’s not all bad.

I can’t help with the plug question as I lost bits for weeks. Good luck!

I lost my plug and my waters broke, but still no contractions 24 hours later so I was induced.
They warned me it could take days and even several attempts, but I was fully dilated within an hour and baby was born half an hour after that. Very, very fast labour. So much so that the midwife was telling me I can’t possibly be ready to push so soon!
Good luck with everything, I hope you don’t have to wait too long to meet your baby!

I was induced 10 weeks ago at 40+12. Wasn’t allowed to leave due to pre-eclampsia but the first 24 hr pessary didn’t work. My waters broke 10 mins after they inserted the second one, and I gave birth 13 hours later.

I don’t think I lost my plug beforehand.

Thanks everyone! I’ve been for a walk today, going to have a good bounce shortly. My body is very achey today and I’ve had a good cry this afternoon for absolutely no reason, so hopefully things speed up and it happens naturally before tomorrow!

Fingers crossed for your induction! I had the drip induction at 40+13 as my water had broke but contractions didn't start. Pessary inserted at 7am, nothing, drip inserted 10am, by 2pm I was 10cm and 2.15pm my daughter was in my arms! Hopefully, it will be nice and quick for you too!

I was induced too and it surprised me how quickly the contractions came on, they were very regular and quite hard but unfortunately I didn’t dilate and had an EMCS

I say that for 2 reasons:

  1. Don’t be afraid to take painkillers early and think about having an epidural if they offer you the drip
  2. If you end up with a c section the recovery is actually totally fine, the procedure itself is very easy and quick and afterwards is all ok

Pack LOADS of snacks and stuff to do. Loads of luck! Let us know how it goes!

I'm booked in for induction Tomorrow when I'll be 39+5. I had a sweep Sunday and last night/this morning all my plug has come out and I have had lower back ache all morning. Praying it starts something for both of us!

I thought I’d keep everyone updated as I know how it annoying it is when you read an old thread and there’s no updates.

My waters broke last night (I wasn’t even sure they had broke, I thought it was just wee but I rang the hospital and they wanted to check) however I am not in labour. They wanted to keep me in overnight to monitor me as I had to be in first thing anyway.

As my waters have broke I don’t need to have a pessary and will be having the gel instead later on this afternoon! Fingers crossed its quick from there!

Good luck!

Update!
The gel didn’t work, so was put onto the drip after 6 hours. The drip was awful and so intense but I wanted to wait to make sure I was actually in labour before considering any pain relief. Just had paracetamol. Gas and air made me throw up and they said I wasn’t allowed the injection as baby was too sleepy. After 7 hours on the drip and regularly contracting, I still was only 1cm dilated. So had an epidural so that I could rest. 4 hours later still on the drip the labour had still not progressed any further and ending up having an emergency csection.

My baby was born Tuesday morning and I have never been so in love
