So we are loving the name boys name Wilbur well actually I love Wilby so officially he would be Wilbur on birth certificate but he would always be called Wilby or Will. I wanted an alternative to William. I know a lot of people will say they just think of the pig ( a little brave one at that ) in charlottes web, but let’s not forget the first man to invent at airplane Wilbur White, and the South African Author Wilbur Smith. I also have a Daughter named Eliza.
Honest thoughts I won’t be offended xx

I don’t mind Wilbur but please don’t call your baby Wilby, he’ll hate you for it. It does make me think of the pig, and he will be known as Willy, but if you don’t mind those associations then go for it.

There's always Willoughby? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willoughby_(given_name)

I can imagine using 'Wilby' when he's little (as that's probably how he will say the name when he's tiny!) but it gives you the option of something a bit more grown up for when he's older but with a similar sound?

I have a Wilby Rupert, age 18 months.
I really love the name (we also have a Monty age 3). However I sometimes wish we had named him Wilbur on his birth certificate.
We often call him Wilbs for short 🙂

I have a William and Wilbur is his pet name.

I think it’s very cute but I wouldn’t like to be a 30-something man called Wilbur- it would be quite challenging to pull off!

PP’s suggestion of Willoughby is fab though!

I wanted just Wilby to begin with. But husband wants Wilbur on Birth certificate xx

I really like it!

To be fair it is a perfectly cute name.. :)

Unfortunately that's what my DP and I "affectionately " call his willy area, so for us it would be too difficult to take seriously.
