Positive & negative pregnancy test

Hi girls..

My friend (and I really mean my friend) took two pregnancy tests, one was a Sainsburys brand which came up almost a faint positive and the second was a first response 6 day early one which was completely negative.

Has this happened to anyone else before or does anyone have any input? I’ve attached photos for reference!

Thanks!

Were they both taken with FMU? Could just be because it's very early days or it might be a chemical.

The Sainsburys one was FMU, the second was about an hour after

I think the Sainsbury's one might be an evap - evaps on those ones look like thin lines slightly off centre rather than thick blue ones (I know this because I got one once and spent hours googling!). Hope your friend is ok x

If the blue one was fmu it makes sense why the other one is negative.
Need to retest tomorrow

I had a false positive once with a cheaper test, maybe try another in the morning

Marvelwife123 · 13/03/2021 18:05

@squidlady might be right the positive line looks off centre

Makingnumber2 · 13/03/2021 18:36

If it is very early days you need to test with FMU. This could explain why your friend got BFP on 1st test done on FMU but not with second test done an hour later.
Test again tomorrow morning.
Other explanations are the first test wasn't read within the time limit and it is an evap line, however it takes a good amount of time for the strip inside the test to dry out and leave an evap. In my experience a line is always a line if read within 20 mins of doing the test. That's on cheapie dip strips and more expensive tests.

Makingnumber2 · 13/03/2021 18:37

I had cheapie tests from Asda with my last pregnancy and they were all off centre lines but it was confirmed as a BFP.

There’s not even a control line on the blue dye one so it’s completely invalid.

Didn't even notice this! Good point!

I'd trust the first response, like pp has said the other looks like it's a dodgy one.
Retest in 2-3 days if you still think you could be pregnant.
