Told gender @12 wk scan

Just got back from my 12 week scan. Sonographer was excited and surprised to say he was pretty sure he could see the gender. Looking at a "potty shot" he said boy. I will attach picture although image was slightly clearer in person.

What do you think? We are only telling close family we think its a boy incase this is wrong. Has anybody else been told an early gender and was it wrong/correct?

He said "i can't 100% guarantee but will be very surprised if im wrong"

It's more of a guess at that gestation. I would wait until baby is a bit bigger to confirm a gender.

We had a private scan at 16+4wk, got a very clear look between the legs and saw it's a girl.

Yeah i agree. I'd never of asked at this stage and wasnt expecting him to offer. but he seemed pretty sure!
I agree definitely wont be rushing off to buy things though lol

At 14 weeks I was told I was having a boy... here he is...

I think it is possible to tell from the 12 week scan but they use the nub theory in combination with a between the legs shot not just either on its own!

My 2yo was a girl at his 20 week scan...can confirm he is not 🤣

The consultant said the hips are shaped differently depending on the sex... well that's a load of codswallop obviously.

Thankfully it was an extra private scan for nucal screening not to find out the sex so I wasn't bothered but I was a bit shocked at my 20week scan when they showed me a labia...

At 12 weeks I was told mine was a boy .... she most definitely came out a girl and is still a girl ...

So I wouldn't trust the 12 week scans

It won't tell you the gender of the baby so don't get your hopes up.

Same here, told definitively it was a boy at 12 wk scan (hadn't asked), then told girl at 20 wks... she came out a girl!

I was told it was a boy at 12 weeks and it was. There were a lot of staff in the room and they were very definite.
