Low Papp A and 2nd trimester bleeding

I’ve just had a letter arrive saying I have low Papp a (0.358 MoM). Ive had a quick look at NHS websites and it lists low birth weight, premature delivery and increased risk of 2nd trimester miscarriage as potential risks associated with low Papp a. The letter says they will scan extra but I’m overweight and consultant led anyway, so was already expecting growth scans. So in essence nothing has changed with monitoring.

I had quite a large bleed on Monday (15 weeks), they don’t know why, I’m waiting on someone to look at my cervix and a scan (babies HB was heard on Tuesday by midwife, as A&E didn’t check baby at all).

Feeling a whirlwind of emotions, as still very on edge after Monday and not having a cause. I also bled (red but more than spotting) between 7.5-9 weeks (no reason on scan, no one checked my cervix). but baby measured as expected at all scans. Will try and contact my midwife on Monday, but leaves me in 48hrs of limbo! Until Monday I felt a bond with bump but that’s completely disappeared now. We were due to find out boy/girl next weekend but I can’t bring myself to book the scan after Monday. So feeling quite wobbly.

Any experience?

Hi, I had low Papp-a and had additional monitoring (no bleeding though). Mine turned out to be fine and they were unsure of the cause. I hope it’s a similar outcome for you Flowers
