So I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my third baby I have placenta previa so I may not even be able to give birth naturally again depending on if my placenta moves or not I'll find out at 32 weeks NGL C section is my worse nightmare but anyway if my placenta moves which I'm hoping it will and I'm able to give birth naturally like my 2 previous births I've been told third baby arrives a lot quicker is this true??? How quick was your third baby? I'm 30 mins away from my hospital and my fiancé works 45 mins away in the opposite direction. My first Labour was 15 hours my 2nd 5 hours I'm so worried we won't make it to hospital in time any one else feel if the same?

Following.

1st was 7hours (but dosed up on synotcin) from first contraction to baby out. Pushing for 20 mins.

2nd was 5 hours from 1st contraction to baby out (though had contractions on and off for weeks). In he hospital for 90 minutes, thought we had hours to go, waters broke, needed to push, 4 mins later baby!

We're an hour away from the hospital if there's no traffic. I'm 22 weeks and I'm terrified of my waters going first given what happened with my 2nd.

Though another nursery mum told me this week that they told her mid labour with her 3rd that 3rds tend to stop and start!

Oh gosh 2nd baby was quick!

It's scary isn't it my waters had to be broken with both of mine so I reckon it will have to happen again this time. Ohh that's interesting I haven't heard that my midwife told me third babies are always quicker 😖 x

I think generally subsequent babies can be quicker than first but after that there are so many factors that can come into play - size of baby, position of baby, position of placenta, environment of labour / birth, feeling safe, position of giving birth etc etc plus more unknown factors

For me, personally all 3 of my labours were between 5-6 hours! Baby no 3 was a bit more stop start for a day or two before but the active labour was the same. Slightly longer pushing phase because he turned out to be enormous (10lb 6oz) and started labour back to back but turned as labour progressed.

I had home births for both 2 & 3 which I would highly recommend. I also live about half an hour from the nearest hospital but figured if we really needed to go we could be quick enough. My midwife was very reassuring about safety of home birth and length of time needed to get to hospital / operating theatre.

Personally I had a great experience both times at home.

1st was 12 hours, forceps the works
2nd 22 hours
3rd 4 hours from first contraction, 40 mins from parking the car! No pain relief, water birth. Was absolutely perfect
