How much weight is too much?

Hi!
I'm 40 weeks this week.
Before I got pregnant I was just under ten stone. I've just weighed myself and I'm fourteen stone!!
Is that too much weight to put on during pregnancy?
It sounds like a lot!
Any one got any knowledge on this?
I feel like a giant blob!

I had a friend who gained 6 stone and another gained 13lb.. most have been somewhere inbetween. Don’t even worry about it, not long now until baby will be in your arms and you’ll get the weight off! X

It is quite a lot. I gained 4st in my 1st snd 2nd pregnancies and was carrying a lot more fat aftef birth than pre pregnancy. My 3rd I was more mindful of what I was eating and I gained 2.5st, was 7lb heavier after birth than pre pregnancy (she was 9lb 10oz). Our twins I stopped weighing myself because I was gaining so much weight but I was only 7lb heavier after birth than pre pregnancy with them too so not bad.

Everyone's different, I gained four stone and had a lot of water retention, my feet and legs were twice the size, so swollen. DD was 7lbs 10, so not massive. I lost three stone by the time she was three months and the other stone dropped off over that year.

A lot of it will be baby and fluid but either way there's not much you can do about it now! Enjoy your lovely soon to be baby cuddles and don't worry about weight for the next few months at least!

It does sound a lot to be honest. I put on 1st 9lb during pregnancy, my daughter weighed 7lbs 3oz when born and I had polyhydraminos (excess amniotic fluid) so my bump was huge.

I gained 1 stone with my first pregnancy and five stone with the second. I am 15 weeks in my third pregnancy and have put on no weight so far but have started this pregnancy a lot heavier than my first two and am really mindful about not eating to excess and exercising whilst I feel fit and able to do so.

It could well be a lot of water retention.
Try not to worry about this now...
I mean it's a bit late but also some people shed the weight very easily post birth.

At this point, dont worry about it. Nothing can change it now.

1st pregnancy i put on 3 and a half stone but delivered at 33 weeks.

This pregnancy, currently 36 weeks and i have gestational diabetes and ive put on 3 stone 4lbs. I literally put on 5lbs last week but my feet and legs are HUGE so i know that weight gain is water retention.

Just enjoy the last few days of pregnancy and hit the baby weight hard when you are ready to. You may be surprised on how much you lose once baby is here.
