Hi,
Just wondering if any of you ladies had been recently given birth at RVI in Newcastle? Just curious how things are right now with covid...how long can the birthing partner stay with you, how did you find your stay there, how was your overall experience? Any info will be helpful. Thanks a lot! X

I am giving birth at Cramlington, but my midwife told me that its still the same there at the moment- partners allowed in in active labour and have to leave after birth x

I gave birth 3 weeks ago in Sunderland hospital
DP was allowed in when I was in established labour ( which was a couple of minutes after I arrived luckily ) & was allowed to stay after the birth
We were not allowed to leave the room at all tho so I suggest bringing plenty of snacks / entertainment

Good luck xx

Hi I gave birth at the RVI last week, your partner is allowed there once you're in established labour or if you are induced, like I was, your partner can come once you have your own room. I had to stay in for two nights and my partner was allowed to come and visit for an hour each day - one of the midwives let him stay longer on the I first day he came to visit

The RVI has a good web page that gets updated quite frequently - coronavirus.newcastle-hospitals.nhs.uk/patients/services/maternity-services/ - which is worth keeping an eye on. I believe the induction suite they can't arrange it to be spaced out more than it is which is why birth partners aren't allowed in there, and I imagine that will take a while to change. I'm just hopeful that labour starts naturally when it's time as I could cope with an hour's visiting a day but don't want to go through induction by myself!
